Okayama University Swim Team Shines at National Championships with Multiple Podium Finishes
On August 6-8, 2025, the Okayama University swim team made a mark at the 72nd National Public University Swimming Championships held at Inoue Toubu Sports Park Kuroshio Arena in Kochi Prefecture. The team’s standout athletes included Taichi Murakami, a fourth-year student in the Faculty of Education, who secured second place finishes in both the 100m and 50m freestyle events. Another notable performance came from Yana Chihara, a second-year student in the same faculty, who earned third place in the 200m backstroke and second place in the 100m backstroke event, gracing the podium with confidence.
In addition to individual accomplishments, the male relay team, consisting of fourth-year students Yuto Takeuchi and Haruki Yanagi, second-year student Yuuji Kasatani, and Taichi Murakami, also made waves by achieving third place in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay.
