Laurus International School of Science: Bunkyo Campus Opening
Laurus International School of Science, a prominent name in the international education sector in Japan, is proud to announce the opening of its Bunkyo campus in July 2025. This new addition will join the existing network of schools located throughout the Kanto region, which includes several preschools, kindergartens, and elementary through high schools.
Overview of Laurus International School of Science
The Bunkyo campus will adopt both the Cambridge International Curriculum and the innovative Laurus Innovator Education program. By providing a comprehensive education from preschool (starting at age 1.5) to the junior high level, Laurus ensures that students acquire the necessary skills, knowledge, and English proficiency to succeed globally in the 21st century.
The Bunkyo area, especially the Koishikawa district where the campus will be located, has a long history of educational significance, housing many universities and institutions. It is a family-friendly environment with excellent educational facilities that is well-supported by the community's infrastructure. The location is serviced by multiple train lines including the Mita Line, Oedo Line, Marunouchi Line, and Namboku Line, making it easily accessible from various parts of Tokyo.
The new campus will occupy the second floor of a building that also houses residential and commercial spaces, further enhancing its appeal as a central hub for education.
School Mission and Unique Features
With its mission statement, “Creating future innovators who change the world for the better,” Laurus focuses on fostering a mindset among children that encourages them to explore and solve real-world problems. The school’s curriculum, centered around STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics), encourages students to learn through hands-on, project-based activities. These engaging projects help children cultivate curiosity and problem-solving skills in a supportive environment.
Laurus is committed to high-quality teaching, with all classes led by native English speakers or individuals with equivalent proficiency. Our educators possess specific skills for teaching young learners and are supported by bilingual childcare professionals who give personalized attention to students.
Engaging Events and Activities
Laurus places a high value on experiential learning. Monthly excursions and events such as Performance Day, Sports Day, Halloween festivities, and the STEAM Fair are integral to the curriculum. Additionally, local cultural events like rice pounding demonstrations provide children with a rich variety of hands-on experiences.
