Somerston Estate Launches New Flagship Wines with Unique Character and Culinary Experience

Somerston Estate Unveils New Flagship Wines

Somerston Estate, a stunning 1,682-acre estate located in Napa Valley's picturesque eastern Vaca Mountains, has recently announced the launch of its new flagship luxury wine collection. This collection symbolizes a significant evolution in the estate's offerings and includes two limited-production wines: a red and a white, both reflecting the estate's distinctive terroir and essence.

The Evolution of Somerston’s Wine Legacy

At the heart of this transformation is the introduction of the Astrolabe, one of the earliest navigational tools, which is prominently embossed in gold on the estate's new wine bottles. The Astrolabe represents the estate's philosophy to explore deeply and navigate with intention, mirroring the meticulous approach employed in the cultivation and winemaking processes.

The inaugural flagship wines debuted with the release of the 2023 Somerston Red, priced at $245, with a limited production of 190 cases. Following shortly will be the 2025 Somerston White, scheduled for release in late fall of 2026, offered at a price of $75 for 200 cases. Unlike traditional wine production that might rely on fixed formulas, these wines are crafted as unique proprietary blends that showcase the artistry of winemaking—each iteration is a celebration of the land's character for that particular year.

Distinctive Terroir and Artistry

Somerston Estate features 230 acres of sustainably farmed vineyards nestled at altitudes ranging from 850 to 1,615 feet. This varied elevation creates a mix of soil types, sun exposures, and microclimates, resulting in distinct growing environments for each vineyard block. This comprehensive understanding allows for meticulous farming, picking, and vinifying tailored to the specifics of each plot, enabling a harmonious representation of the land in every wine produced.

Expertise Behind the New Collection

Leading the charge in this new endeavor is Cody Hurd, the Director of Winemaking, who possesses a deep understanding of the estate built over more than 15 years. Hurd's journey at Somerston began in 2010, progressing from cellar master to head winemaker, which uniquely positions him to make informed decisions about the fruit selected from the estate's various blocks. "After 15 years, I’ve developed a profound familiarity with the land, guiding the selection of grapes that highlight Somerston’s unique qualities each vintage. The aspirations aren’t just about producing excellent wines, but about crafting wines that can be recognized as distinctively Somerston," shares Hurd.

Experience Somerston Beyond the Bottle

In addition to the highly anticipated wine releases, Somerston is enhancing its visitor experience with a new culinary program. Spearheaded by Estate Chef Cameron Bouldin, this initiative aims to pair seasonal ingredients from Napa Valley with the estate’s wines, allowing guests to deepen their connection to the land amid the stunning backdrop of Somerston's mountainous landscape.

The 2023 Somerston Red will be available in limited quantities directly from Somerston Estate, starting October 6, 2026, with the 2025 Somerston White launching soon thereafter. Private estate experiences can be reserved through Somerston's website for a curated journey that showcases their wine and seasonal culinary delights.
