Edward Jones and Alzheimer's Association Celebrate a Milestone
On World Alzheimer's Day, Edward Jones proudly recognizes its ongoing partnership with the Alzheimer's Association®, celebrating over a decade of impactful collaboration that has transformed lives and advanced research in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
Since their alliance began in 2016, Edward Jones and its associates have generously contributed more than $63 million. About 20% of these funds have been specifically allocated to pioneering research initiatives aimed at understanding and ultimately ending this devastating disease, which currently affects over seven million Americans. As projections indicate this number could double by 2050, the importance of continued support and advocacy is more crucial than ever.
A Vital Alliance
The relationship between Edward Jones and the Alzheimer's Association® is not just about fundraising; it is about raising awareness and supporting those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias. Ken Cella, head of External Affairs at Edward Jones, emphasized the disruptive nature of Alzheimer's on both individual lives and long-term financial planning, asserting that the funds raised through this alliance serve as a lifeline for families affected by the disease.
Cella stated, "The work this alliance is responsible for is even more critical today than it was just 10 years ago. Alzheimer's disease is an incredibly disruptive force to long-term life and financial planning."
Advancing Research Together
Among the highlights of their collaborative efforts, nearly $12 million of the funds raised have been dedicated to advancing Alzheimer's research through groundbreaking initiatives. One such project is the U.S. POINTER Trial, the largest lifestyle intervention study for brain health in U.S. history. Additionally, contributions have supported the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network Trials Unit (DIAN-TU) at Washington University, which is focused on developing treatments for a rare form of genetically inherited Alzheimer's.
As Donna McCullough, the Alzheimer’s Association® Chief Operating Officer, noted, these partnerships catalyze significant advancements in understanding and treating Alzheimer’s, reassuring families navigating the challenges associated with this condition.
Support for Caregivers
The realities faced by Alzheimer’s caregivers are staggering. As of 2025, nearly 13 million Americans were providing unpaid care for family members living with dementia, a contribution valued at over $446 billion. The total lifetime expenses associated with dementia care have been estimated at $405,262 per person. Recognizing this burden, Edward Jones has prioritized initiatives to support caregivers, including promoting the Alzheimer’s Association’s 24/7 Helpline and advocating for beneficial public policies like the Improving Retirement Security for Family Caregivers Act.
Andy Blocker, head of Policy, Regulation, and Government Relations at Edward Jones, stresses the necessity of nurturing family caregivers. Highlighting the socio-economic challenges posed by caregiving, Blocker stated, "Family caregivers are the foundation of Alzheimer's care, yet too often they do not receive the support they need."
Engaging the Community
Edward Jones is further committed to empowering its associates and the broader community through the Walk to End Alzheimer's®. As the National Presenting Sponsor since 2016, the firm has spearheaded efforts across the country that have raised significant funds for Alzheimer’s research and support mechanisms. This year, the Edward Jones Diamond National Team has already recorded over $2 million in fundraising, striving toward a target of $3.75 million while rallying thousands of participants passionate about creating lasting change.
Through over 600 Walk to End Alzheimer's® events nationwide, Edward Jones has enriched the lives of more than 140,000 individuals, showcasing their commitment to raising awareness and fostering community support.
Looking Ahead
As they move forward, Edward Jones and the Alzheimer's Association® remain steadfast in their mission to continue addressing the challenges posed by Alzheimer's and other dementias. With their combined efforts, they aim to further enhance research, provide crucial support to affected families, and advocate for public policies that recognize and assist caregivers. Together, they are not only advancing research but also championing a future where a cure for Alzheimer’s is not just a dream, but a reality.
