Celebrating the Legacy of Gram Parsons with Martin Guitar

On November 5, 2026, C. F. Martin & Co. unveiled a tribute to the late Gram Parsons, a pioneer of country-rock, with the introduction of the -21 Gram Parsons, a limited-edition acoustic guitar. Marking what would have been Parsons’ 80th birthday, this special instrument is designed to celebrate the enduring influence of an artist who reshaped American music.

A Guitar Inspired by History

The 00-21 Gram Parsons is a homage to the original Martin 00-21 that Parsons played during a transformative period in his career. Only 80 units will be produced, each reflecting the craftsmanship that Martin Guitar is renowned for. Featuring a 12-fret body made from East Indian rosewood and a VTS® old-growth Sitka spruce top, the guitar offers a vintage aesthetic, complete with visual wear that replicates the iconic original.

Detailing includes a V-shaped neck profile, a short 24.9-inch scale, and a wider 1 7/8-inch nut width, combining modern innovation with retro charm. An interior label adorned with Parsons’ printed signature adds a personal touch, ensuring that every owner feels connected to the musician's legacy.

The Musical Impact of Gram Parsons

Known for his concept of “Cosmic American Music,” Gram Parsons fused elements of country, rock, soul, and folk, creating a sound that broke traditional genre barriers. His time with influential bands like The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers laid the groundwork for modern Americana. Despite his untimely death at the young age of 26 in 1973, Parsons' artistic vision continues to echo through generations, influencing a myriad of artists from The Eagles to Wilco.

His recognition extends further in 2026 as he will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This induction marks a significant acknowledgment of his contributions to music, highlighting his impact across various genres. The ceremony will take place shortly after the launch of the guitar, further intertwining Parsons' legacy with the instrument.

Event Unveiling and Availability

To commemorate Parsons' 80th birthday and honorary induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Martin will host a special event on November 5, featuring Chris Martin IV and renowned artist Craig Thatcher. This event will spotlight a conversation on Parsons' influence on today’s music landscape as well as a firsthand look at the guitar.

The limited-edition 00-21 Gram Parsons will be available for purchase starting at $5,499.99. Music enthusiasts and fans alike can acquire this piece through authorized Martin dealers and on the official website, martinguitar.com.
