YAMAGIWA Kyushu's Stunning Lighting Design Triumphs at LIT Awards 2025

YAMAGIWA Kyushu's Triumph at the LIT Lighting Design Awards 2025

The YAMAGIWA Kyushu branch, a leader in lighting design and manufacturing, has recently been awarded the esteemed WINNER title in the Workplace Lighting Design category at the LIT Lighting Design Awards 2025. This international award is organized by the Farmani Group based in Los Angeles, recognizing outstanding contributions in the realm of lighting design across various sectors. The project that garnered this recognition is their innovative showroom and office space located in Fukuoka City, Japan.

A Seamless Connection Between the City and Space

The design of the lighting for the YAMAGIWA Kyushu showroom signifies a thoughtful integration of light, creating a calming atmosphere for passersby while blending harmoniously into the urban landscape. The illumination strategy employed indirect lighting through elegant drapery that envelopes the entire showroom. This approach not only highlights the showcased products but also enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the space.

Innovative Use of Color

In a display of creativity, the indirect lighting incorporates a blue-themed color palette which acts as a complement to the exhibition lights (warm white). By layering two high-quality curtains that allow light to filter through, the design subtly reveals the exhibition lights behind while creating a dreamlike ambiance. The schedule-controlled color lighting shifts throughout the day, presenting bright white light in the morning and transitioning to warm hues of red and deep blue as evening approaches. Additionally, a welcoming lighting feature, activated by motion sensors, provides an engaging experience for visitors upon entry.

Commitment to Sustainability

Integral to YAMAGIWA's lighting design is its commitment to sustainability. The entire showroom and office are managed via DALI control systems enabling an automatic shut-off of exhibition lighting outside business hours. The color lighting adjusts its intensity in accordance with the time of day as well, minimizing energy waste and ensuring that the lighting complements the surrounding environment.

Furthermore, the office design emphasizes ‘functionally beautifying’ the space, featuring pendant lights that reduce glare while ensuring sufficient brightness for workspace surfaces. Ambient lighting is equipped with automatic dimming systems that contribute to further energy efficiency, striking a balance between necessary illumination and energy conservation.
