Folded Hills Winery Launches Grapes for Glioblastoma
In a heartfelt response to a deeply personal circumstance, Folded Hills Winery, Ranch & Farmstead, co-founded by Kim and Andy Busch, has announced the launch of
Grapes for Glioblastoma, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing direct financial assistance to patients and families grappling with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM4), one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer.
The initiative has its roots in a life-altering experience. In August 2023, Andy Busch, an active polo player and passionate swimmer, was diagnosed with glioblastoma following an unexpected seizure. What was revealed was a tumor deep within his temporal lobe, unfortunately deemed inoperable. Fast forward three years, Andy continues to defy the odds—living actively and valiantly amid his ongoing battle—and the experience has galvanized the Busch family to act on behalf of others facing similar hardships.
"Giving back has always been a cornerstone of our values at Folded Hills," stated co-founder Kim Busch. "Grapes for Glioblastoma is the most personal manifestation of this belief. No family facing the heavy burden of GBM4 should endure it alone; every bottle we pour is an act of solidarity with them."
Understanding the Need
Grapes for Glioblastoma focuses on alleviating financial stress that comes with a GBM4 diagnosis. The organization addresses practical and often invisible costs, which include travel expenses to medical facilities, accommodations, meals, childcare, and necessary home adjustments like chair lifts. Unlike many nonprofits focusing on research, this organization zeros in on patient support, ensuring families do not face this daunting battle in isolation or financial distress.
The motivation for this initiative arose from firsthand observations of the healthcare system; too often, patients were seen waiting alone due to a lack of funds to bring family members, caregivers were overwhelmed, and families had to forgo critical treatment options simply due to cost.
A Commitment to Action
Beginning May 1, 2026, a significant percentage of proceeds from each bottle of wine sold at Folded Hills Winery will directly support Grapes for Glioblastoma. This nonprofit has already begun its work, awarding grants to two families who have expressed profound relief and gratitude. One recipient shared, "With Grapes for Glioblastoma, the process was neither lengthy nor complicated. It was filled with compassion and understanding. This kind of support does more than address financial needs; it provides peace of mind, steadies your heart, and reaffirmatively says, 'You are not alone.'"
To kick off this initiative, the winery held a special event—Philanthropy Friday on May 29, 2026—where every cent from online and in-person sales went directly to the nonprofit. Attendees enjoyed a celebratory atmosphere at the Homestead Tasting Room, complete with live music, delightful food, fine wine, and engaging lawn games.
