Allison Transmission Reports Impressive Growth in Q3 2026 Earnings

Overview

Allison Transmission Holdings Inc. has unveiled its financial results for the third quarter of 2026, reflecting robust growth and a positive outlook for the remainder of the year. With substantial increases in net sales, earnings, and cash flow, the company is set for a promising trajectory.

Financial Highlights

Allison reported net sales of $1.534 billion, marking a staggering 121% increase compared to the same period last year. This impressive growth includes contributions from the recently acquired Allison Off-Highway business, which significantly boosted the company's revenue streams. In particular, the Allison Transmission segment achieved its own record with net sales reaching $881 million, a 27% rise year-over-year.

The company's net income for the quarter was $191 million, which translates to 12.5% of net sales, alongside a diluted EPS of $2.30 — a 41% increase from the previous year. Adjusting for various factors, Allison's diluted EPS adjusted to $2.90, signifying a 59% increase year-over-year. The Adjusted EBITDA was reported at $400 million, reflecting a 56% increase and an impressive 26.1% margin.

Market Dynamics

David S. Graziosi, the President and CEO, attributed the strong results to favorable market conditions and disciplined execution that allowed the company to harness increased demand across its core markets. The report highlighted a noted surge in demand for medium-duty and Class 8 vocational trucks in North America, which saw revenue soar to $462 million in this segment alone during the third quarter. The Off-Highway division also thrived, driven primarily by the Mining sector, while the Construction Material Handling market witnessed exceptional growth across all territories.

Conversely, the Industrial and Agriculture markets lagged, primarily due to fluctuations caused by ongoing geopolitical tensions that stifle customer purchasing behavior and investment.

Cost and Expenditure Overview

While the sales figures dazzled, costs also rose, with selling, general and administrative expenses reaching $142 million, a significant rise from $83 million last year. This increase was partly attributable to one-time acquisition-related costs and expenses attached to integrating the Allison Off-Highway segment.

Engineering and research expenses totaled $59 million, up from $43 million in 2025, showcasing Allison's commitment to innovation and product development.

Free Cash Flow and Investment Return

The third quarter also highlighted Allison's strong cash generation capabilities, with net cash provided by operating activities amounting to $343 million, a 50% annual increase. Adjusted free cash flow climbed to $278 million, indicating robust operational effectiveness and enabling debt reduction of over $400 million this year.

Allison's returns to shareholders also remained solid, with the company paying a dividend of $0.29 per share and repurchasing shares worth $57 million in the past quarter, enhancing shareholder value while managing debt strategically.

Forward-Looking Guidance

Due to the encouraging results, Allison has revised its full-year guidance upward. The company now anticipates consolidated net sales in the range of $5.975 to $6.075 billion, with net income projected between $645 million and $685 million. Additionally, Allison expects consolidated adjusted EBITDA to fall between $1.530 and $1.580 billion, reiterating a commitment to improving operating efficiency and capital expenditure prudence.
