FSG Collaborates with Oklo to Launch Innovative Groves Isotope Test Reactor

FSG Partners with Oklo for Revolutionary Reactor Project

Facility Solutions Group (FSG) has proudly announced its collaboration with Oklo Inc. on the Groves Isotope Test Reactor project, which recently achieved a major milestone by achieving first criticality on August 5, 2026. This remarkable event places Groves as the fifth reactor authorized under the U.S. Department of Energy's Reactor Pilot Program and the first to successfully operate a controlled nuclear chain reaction on privately-owned land.

The Groves Isotope Test Reactor serves a dual purpose; it establishes a foundation for domestic commercial isotope production and exemplifies how nuclear projects can be efficiently executed within accelerated timelines across the United States.

FSG joined the Groves project in April 2026 in conjunction with Century Construction, the project's general contractor. The core responsibilities of FSG encompassed the critical areas of electrical work, instrumentation, control systems, testing, and verification. Notably, much of this work took place without established industry precedents, which adds to the significance of the project.

Kris Price, Construction Manager at FSG, expressed pride in the team's accomplishments, stating, "I'm proud of this team. Century and Oklo trusted FSG with work that was critical to the success of the project. On a first-of-a-kind effort like this, that trust isn't given lightly. Our team embraced that responsibility from day one." This sentiment highlights the pivotal role FSG's team played amidst the project's challenges.

Throughout the construction and commissioning phases, FSG, Century Construction, Oklo, and the project engineers operated as a cohesive unit. This collaboration beautifully illustrates FSG's prowess in delivering skilled electrical and systems work for complex, high-stakes facilities, essential to today’s energy landscape.
