Fuji TV has announced that the highly anticipated "Skateboard Street League 2025 Championship" will be available for live streaming via its FOD service. Scheduled for December 6th and 7th, this event will showcase the skills of the world's best skateboarders as they compete for the prestigious title.
The event marks the finale of the Street League (SLS) series, where the best skateboarders from around the globe face off in an extraordinary display of talent and athleticism. The year 2025 is significant as it follows the turbulent but rewarding year of the Paris Olympics, setting the stage for a new competition season. This year’s Championship, known as the “Super Crown,” is set to be the climactic conclusion of the series, as only the elite skaters qualify for this high-stakes showdown.
Among the remarkable athletes participating from Japan is gold medalist Yuuto Horigome, who has demonstrated exceptional skill at both the Tokyo and Paris Olympics. Accompanying him are other phenomenal competitors such as Sora Shirai, a two-time SLS champion, Ginkun Onodera, who recently emerged victorious at the SLS Las Vegas Takeover, and Kaili Netsuke, who aims to make history as the first male Japanese winner. The women's category will see top talents like gold medalist Koko Yoshizawa and silver medalist Rina Akama, who are both in contention for the crown. Could we see the emergence of another female champion from Japan, seven years after Aori Nishimura?
The Skateboard Street League continues to be a beloved event in the skateboarding world, hosting competitions in countries like the USA, Australia, and France, typically attracting a passionate crowd. It features an invitation-only format with 20 male and 10 female skaters from across the world, each showcasing their unique style in 45-second runs and a single trick battle, which raises the competitive stakes.
To secure the title of annual champion is no small feat. The Super Crown event stands as the ultimate honor for skaters, and this year promises to be more thrilling than ever, with defending champion Nyjah Huston and women's champion Rayssa Leal also making their presence felt.
