August 2026 Gaming PC Market Report Highlights Significant Price Drops in High-End Models

August 2026 Gaming PC Market Summary

In August 2026, the gaming PC market experienced varied pricing trends, particularly notable in the high-end segment. Managed by Kidukeba LLC and represented by Kanta Fukuda, the leading gaming PC search platform, gg, released its monthly price movement report analyzing Build To Order (BTO) gaming PCs.

The gg platform includes a unique feature, the 'Gaming PC Price Check Tool,' which categorizes gaming PCs based on their key component, the GPU. It divides them into three performance tiers: entry, mid-range, and high-end, enabling users to understand the market dynamics from multiple angles:

  • - By performance tier (Entry / Mid-range / High-end)
  • - By GPU model deployed
  • - By configuration (GPU + CPU)

This month’s report indicates a stabilization in the entry and mid-range classes with minimal price changes, while the high-end class faced a significant downturn.

Overview of Market Trends

The entry-level segment, starting at ¥222,980, decreased to ¥220,000 by the end of August, marking a reduction of ¥2,980 or -1.3%. Meanwhile, the mid-range class saw a slight increase from ¥320,980 to ¥324,800, an increase of ¥3,820 or +1.2%. However, both categories demonstrated relative stability, with price fluctuations remaining around the 1% threshold.

In stark contrast, the high-end segment observed a sharp decline, where the average price fell from ¥551,980 at the start of the month to ¥504,700 by the end, reflecting a drop of ¥47,280 or -8.6%. This marked a significant departure from previous trends, which had seen steady performance across all classes.

In July, all tiers experienced price declines, but August painted a divergent picture. The high-end tier's drop deepened from a prior -1.0%, showcasing a clear trend of retraction from its peak pricing observed earlier in the year.

Contributing Factors

Several factors could be influencing these changes, including seasonal sales promoted by various manufacturers and ongoing price restructures. Notable adjustments in the models being offered could also have played a role, leading to price competitiveness in this summer sales season.

This month has been particularly favorable for consumers purchasing high-end models that had long been perceived as overpriced, especially when the entry and mid-range tiers showed stability. Moving forward into September and the forthcoming fall sales season, it will be crucial to monitor whether this price drop in the high-end market is merely a temporary effect or if new pricing norms will be established.
