The North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) has recently announced an exciting expansion of its Build Ready Sites Program (BRS) for the year 2025. This initiative marks a significant opportunity for communities across North Carolina to develop operational industrial sites. With two grant application rounds scheduled - one in the spring and another in the fall - NCRR aims to boost local economies by providing vital resources and funding.

Starting from May 12 until June 13, the first round of applications is now open, with the subsequent round planned for September. This year, NCRR is offering a remarkable opportunity where up to $3 million in grants will be available during each round. This is the first time in the program's history that two application periods will occur within a single year, further enhancing the chances for communities to benefit.

Carl Warren, President and CEO of NCRR, emphasized the importance of primed industrial sites, stating that they serve as crucial infrastructure for attracting and expanding businesses within North Carolina. The expansion of the BRS program corresponds to an increasing demand for domestic manufacturing capacity, allowing communities to develop essential assets for timely project implementation.
