HiTHIUM Unveils Innovative 8-Hour LDES Solution at All Energy Australia

On October 28, HiTHIUM, a global leader in energy storage technology, made waves at the All Energy Australia event held in Melbourne, where it showcased its innovative ∞Power 6.9 MWh long-duration energy storage system (LDES). This cutting-edge system is specifically designed for an impressive eight-hour storage duration, making it a robust solution for both commercial and residential applications.

Energy storage is becoming increasingly vital in Australia due to its role in enhancing grid flexibility and ensuring energy security. The Australian Government's push for cleaner energy projects through the Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) and specific LDES tenders from New South Wales have opened new avenues for storage projects catering to extended durations. The significance of HiTHIUM's presentation lies in its ability to address these emerging needs effectively.

The ∞Power 6.9 MWh BESS stands out as it is strategically tailored for high-demand periods, where periods of peak pricing are projected to extend significantly. According to data, by 2025, over 70% of revenue from electricity shortages will arise from high-price phases lasting four hours or more. HiTHIUM aims to leverage these market opportunities, as the economic viability of energy storage is shifting towards extended availability during peak times.

A recent analysis from CSIRO GenCost illustrates that using two 4-hour systems to deliver an equivalent eight-hour energy output would cost approximately 23% more than the specially designed 8-hour system. Thus, HiTHIUM's offering represents not only a technological advancement but also a financially sound investment for energy stakeholders.

The ∞Power 6.9 MWh BESS integrates into a standard 20-foot container and boasts an impressive overall efficiency of up to 96%. Designed with a lifespan of 25 years, it also supports compatibility with various PCS and EMS products from leading global suppliers. Compared to a conventional 4-hour system, HiTHIUM’s design reduces space requirements by 15% while also optimizing the levelized cost of storage (LCOS).

In addition to its energy storage solutions, HiTHIUM showcased its Grid Compliance Simulation and Verification Platform. This platform assists projects in meeting grid connection standards in Australia. It covers essential phases, from R0 assessment to project commissioning and R2 model validation. The platform combines grid code interpretation, facility modeling, automated simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and on-site validation to mitigate compliance risks from the outset, decreasing the need for late-stage redesigns.

Following its commitment to bolstering local service capacity in Australia, HiTHIUM has established a comprehensive local service network. This covers essential areas such as spare parts storage, training, operations and maintenance (OM), and the compliant recycling of batteries, ensuring nationwide service availability. During the event, HiTHIUM signed strategic合作 agreements with Australian partners such as Raystech and Ingeteam, enhancing local workforce capabilities, spare parts infrastructure, and safety skills. Notably, plans are in place for a service center in Brisbane, slated to open by mid-2027, facilitating quicker and more effective support for customers in the region.

Moreover, HiTHIUM introduced its liquid-cooled energy storage unit ∞Power 1022kWh for commercial and industrial use, incorporating its innovative ∞Cell 1175Ah LDES cells designed for peak shaving and solar self-consumption applications. For the residential market, HiTHIUM presented the HeroEE 16 and ARKVOLT F8S series, designed for flexible deployment and integration with solar systems, heat pumps, and electric vehicle charging stations.

Through its pioneering 8-hour LDES technology, its expertise in grid compliance, and its increasingly robust local service network, HiTHIUM is strengthening its commitment to supporting Australia’s energy storage projects from development and grid connection to long-term operation. These efforts highlight HiTHIUM’s dedication to meeting Australia’s evolving energy storage demands through integrated solutions and ongoing local support.
