Uridoki Partners with Tsuru City for Sustainable Reuse Initiative
On March 16, 2026, Uridoki Co., Ltd., based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, signed a cooperative agreement with Tsuru City in Yamanashi Prefecture, led by Mayor Yoshinori Hinata, to promote reuse efforts towards building a circular economy.
Background and Goals of the Partnership
Tsuru City has registered and introduced partnership with "Reuse Cooperation Businesses" aimed at reducing waste and promoting resource recycling. The city is committed to encouraging the reuse of usable furniture, appliances, and daily necessities discarded by residents. This initiative aims to build a flow that connects "recovery → reuse → those in need," promoting both waste reduction and a reusable circulation model.
Conversely, Uridoki has been dedicated to realizing the SDGs and circular economy by visualizing the value of unwanted items and facilitating their proper redistribution through its reuse platform. Given the nationwide challenges of increasing waste treatment costs and the pressures of existing landfill sites, there is a stronger call for a society that does not dispose of usable items. Therefore, the collaboration aims to create a more effective reuse cycle by integrating Tsuru City’s reuse strategies with Uridoki’s assessment features for unwanted items.
Making Reuse Simpler for Tsuru Residents
With this partnership, Tsuru residents will now have the ability to utilize the Uridoki matching service through the Tsuru City website to assess their unwanted goods directly. By entering information about unwanted items on the Uridoki platform, residents will receive valuation offers from multiple professional appraisers. After comparing the results, they can choose their preferred appraiser to proceed with the selling process.
Importantly, there is no cost burden for residents using this service, nor will Tsuru City incur any expenses related to this initiative.
How to Use the Service
1.
Request an Assessment: Enter the information of the items you wish to sell along with your customer details to apply for a grouped assessment.
2.
Receive Assessment Values: Up to ten participating purchasing businesses will conduct evaluations and provide feedback on assessment results.
3.
Select an Appraiser: Compare the assessment prices and select an appraiser to proceed with the purchasing process.
This allows residents to choose reuse before disposing of unwanted items as "waste," thus contributing to waste reduction and effective use of resources. Uridoki supports Tsuru City’s initiative and aims to develop a system that makes it easier for residents to connect their unwanted goods to reuse opportunities.
Through this collaboration, Uridoki will promote a flow of recovery → reuse → connecting to those in need, contributing to a sustainable society where unwanted items are circulated both locally and beyond.
