Kourakuen Hanten's Majestic Transformation
After 63 years of serving exquisite Chinese cuisine, the Kourakuen Hanten, operated by Tokyo Dome Hotel, is set to undergo an impressive renewal. This significant transformation will take place on
November 14, 2025, presenting not just a revitalized space but also a fresh culinary experience that is deeply rooted in tradition.
Embracing the Future with Tradition
Founded in 1962, Kourakuen Hanten has long stood as a beloved institution in Tokyo, cherished by diners and sports enthusiasts alike. The upcoming renovation reflects a commitment to preserving its rich heritage while responding to today's demands for sophisticated dining experiences in elegant surroundings. The aim is to create a restaurant where contemporary twists meet classic Chinese culinary arts, making it a central hub in Tokyo’s entertainment district.
A Stunning New Design: NEO CHINOISERIE
The renewal will herald the introduction of a concept named
NEO CHINOISERIE, which combines the historical
Chinoiserie style with modern aesthetic elements. This artistic movement, which originated in the 17th century, is grounded in motifs such as silk, ceramics, and floral patterns that echo Chinese culture, all reimagined through a contemporary lens.
The restaurant's entrance and dining areas will experience a complete makeover with use of materials and textures that evoke the vibrancy of the past while maintaining a fresh, luxurious feel. The design will incorporate traditional motifs and colors that have defined the restaurant's identity, delivering both visual delight and a sense of history.
Renovation Highlights: Key Areas
Entrance
One of the most striking features will be the entrance, designed to symbolically meld Kourakuen Hanten’s storied history with the NEO CHINOISERIE theme. Expect to see dynamic designs inspired by traditional floral patterns, utilizing colors like crimson, bamboo shades, and stone textures to create a refined atmosphere. Innovative lighting will ensure that the new Kourakuen Hanten stands out as an unmistakable landmark.
桃花 (Tōka/Dining Area)
At the heart of dining will be the 桃花 section, endowed with a design emphasizing elegance and individuality. The layout will showcase a mixture of light pink textiles, conjuring an airy atmosphere interspersed with original screens that evoke the charm of traditional Japanese folding screens, allowing for versatile seating arrangements.
Unveiling of the Phoenix Course
In celebration of the renewal, Kourakuen Hanten will introduce the
Phoenix Course, a limited-time special featuring a lavish
Buddha Jump Soup (佛跳牆) at its core. Made with 15 haute ingredients, including abalone and shark fin, this soup is steeped in imperial history and aims to thrill palates with its royal flavors.
This unique gastronomic experience will also include other luxurious dishes, such as
Peking Duck,
Chili Prawns with Tomato, and
Stir-fried Black Pepper Beef Tenderloin. All these culinary masterpieces will bring a taste of opulence that pays homage to the ancient traditions of Chinese cuisine.
