Casepoint Platform Achieves FedRAMP High Security Authorization and DOD IL4 Designation
In an impressive milestone for data security, Casepoint, in collaboration with OPEXUS, has made history by becoming the first and only data discovery platform to secure FedRAMP High Authorization while also earning the Department of Defense (DOD) Impact Level 4 (IL4) designation. This achievement underscores their commitment to upholding superior security standards, complementing existing authorizations of FedRAMP Moderate and DOD IL5 and IL6 credentials.
On April 9, 2025, the announcement was made confirming that Casepoint’s platform, renowned for its data discovery technology used in litigation, investigations, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, congressional inquiries, and data compliance, has received these prestigious certifications. By obtaining the FedRAMP High designation, Casepoint enables U.S. government agencies to manage their most sensitive unclassified workloads within a highly secure cloud environment.
The range of authorizations spans Casepoint's entire platform, covering legal hold functions, cloud connectors, eDiscovery processes, FOIA operations, and Casepoint Filestore™. This strategic positioning allows OPEXUS + Casepoint to provide any of their product offerings to government clients consistent with their designated security baselines. This means, regardless of data classification levels—low, moderate, or high impact—government clients stand to gain from enhanced data protection without incurring additional expenses or undergoing complicated setups.
Howard Langsam, CEO of OPEXUS + Casepoint, expressed pride over these significant accomplishments, emphasizing that achieving FedRAMP High and adding DOD IL4 enables enhanced support for both government agencies and major corporations in critical operations that demand stringent security for sensitive data. According to Langsam, ‘These milestones and security standards enable us to better support both government agencies and major corporations in their mission-critical work while ensuring the highest level of security.’
Indeed, Casepoint stands out as a unique legal technology platform; as of the announcement's timing, fewer than 60 cloud service offerings across various industries hold FedRAMP High Authorized status. This achievement came after exhaustive evaluations, including assessments, evidence validation, and final audits that were necessary to verify the enhanced security measures implemented by Casepoint.
The FedRAMP High Impact Level mandates nearly 100 additional security controls compared to the moderate level, showcasing how significant this venture is for organizations that are shifting their data repositories to high-impact levels. Casepoint provides agencies the capability to sustain their data within a secure environment that meets both current demands and future prospects, facilitating long-term data management solutions without altering user experience.
Sundhar Rajan, Chief Information Officer at OPEXUS + Casepoint, pointed out that customers value their stringent security standards and certifications, highlighting that substantial investments continue to be funneled into providing military-grade security to partners. Rajan stated, ‘Much of the government's mission to foster public trust depends on security, which means it has been and will persist as a major focus for our company.’
With this announcement, Casepoint surprised many industry insiders as it claimed the title of being the first data discovery cloud platform to achieve FedRAMP High. The company originally earned its FedRAMP Moderate authorization, and is now the sole platform to achieve IL5 and IL6 Authority to Operate (ATO) from the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and the DOD. The protection of sensitive and secret information falls within these credentials, with only limited others in the cloud service arena receiving IL6 authorization.
