Desert Financial Commits $300,000 to Empower Arizona's Latino Community

Desert Financial's Investment in Latino Communities

In a significant show of support, Desert Financial Credit Union has recently announced a commitment of $300,000 to bolster the efforts of two nonprofit organizations in Arizona—Empowering Latina Leaders in Arizona (E.L.L.A) and ALL In Education. This substantial investment will be allocated over a three-year period, with each organization receiving $50,000 annually until 2027.

A Collaborative Approach to Empowerment

Cathy Graham, the Executive Vice President of Desert Financial, articulated the essence of this initiative by stating, "This commitment reflects our belief that strong communities are built through collaboration." This philosophy underscores the credit union's strategy of partnering with organizations that share its vision for a thriving and empowered Latino community.

Impact on Latino Families

The funds will primarily focus on enhancing programs that uplift Latino families, students, and entrepreneurs. This involves expanding access to vital services such as leadership development and financial wellness education—services that are critical for long-term community success.

E.L.L.A., since its inception in 2018, has been a catalyst for economic opportunities for Latina entrepreneurs. The organization has positively impacted the local economy by supporting over 1,100 businesses, leading to more than $1 million in economic contributions.

On September 28, Desert Financial took a step further in community engagement by serving as the presenting sponsor for the Amor Collective Grand Opening, an incubator dedicated to Latina-owned businesses in Arizona. Additionally, the credit union will sponsor the upcoming Hispanic Heritage Month Fashion Show on October 15, further solidifying its commitment to the Latino community.

Stephanie Vasquez, Founder and CEO of E.L.L.A., expressed her appreciation for the collaboration, stating, "Partnerships like this build trust and visibility in our community. Desert Financial isn't just a sponsor; they are a partner."

Educational Services and Programs

Equally noteworthy is the contribution that ALL In Education is set to gain from this commitment. The organization aims to empower Latino families to have a stronger voice in shaping Arizona’s educational landscape. Support from Desert Financial will enhance parent leadership training, expand family-centered literacy programs, and prepare parents for careers in education within the Roosevelt School District.

Stephanie Parra, CEO of ALL In Education, highlighted that, "Together, we are equipping parents and caregivers with the knowledge and confidence to support their families, while paving the way for their children to create lasting legacies of their own."

A Long-Term Initiative

This investment is part of Desert Financial’s broader goal to advance the financial well-being of Arizona's Hispanic community through impactful partnerships, educational programs, and community empowerment efforts. By focusing on education and support, Desert Financial aims to instill a sense of confidence and agency within the Latino community.
