Typhoon 15 Relief Fund Presentation Ceremony Held in Shizuoka Prefecture



On October 8, 2023, the Shizuoka Prefectural Office hosted a significant ceremony where the Pal System Shizuoka organization presented a total of 500,000 yen to aid those affected by Typhoon No. 15. The funds consisted of 500,000 yen from the organization itself, along with generous contributions made by its members. The organization’s president, Satoko Hosoya, personally handed over the donation certificate to Hideki Aoyama, the head of the Health and Welfare Department of Shizuoka.

Background of Typhoon No. 15



On September 5, a series of devastating tornadoes, gusty winds, and flooding affected ten municipalities in Shizuoka due to Typhoon No. 15. According to an announcement by Shizuoka Prefecture on October 7, over 2,215 residences and buildings sustained significant damage from the disasters. Tragically, the incident resulted in one fatality and 83 individuals suffering serious injuries.

In response to these tragic events, the prefectural government announced the opening of a donation campaign for the Typhoon No. 15 relief fund on September 9. Following this, Pal System Shizuoka committed to providing financial assistance to help those who suffered losses during this calamity.

A Commitment to the Community



During the ceremony, Aoyama assured that the funds would be distributed to the victims as quickly as possible. In turn, Hosoya expressed her sincere hope that the donation would aid in a swift recovery for those affected. Importance was placed on the collaboration between the cooperative and local government in the aftermath of the disaster.

Among the attendees were Noriko Yoneyama, the Director of the Welfare and Longevity Bureau of the Health and Welfare Department, Macro Shimizu, the Executive Director of Pal System Shizuoka, and Keiko Taguchi, a standing director. Discussions also took place about potential future collaborations between the cooperative and the prefectural government to further enhance community support efforts.
