Support Together! Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics Film Screening Event
The Toshima Mirai Cultural Foundation is hosting a film screening event titled "Minna no Deaflympics" at the Owlspot Theatre, located in Toshima, Tokyo. This initiative aims to promote the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics and enhance understanding and appreciation of Deaf culture and community. The foundation's philosophy emphasizes inclusivity with its motto: "Everyone can be a star at any time," aiming to create a city filled with connections, encounters, and smiles.
Event Details
This three-day event will feature the documentary film "Minna no Deaflympics," alongside various activities to share information about the Deaflympics and Deaf culture. Attendees can look forward to panel exhibitions and storytelling sessions using sign language.
On the final day, a workshop will explain the differences between Japanese Sign Language and International Sign Language, and guests include upcoming Deaflympics athletes who will participate in a talk event.

About the Film
The documentary "Minna no Deaflympics" runs for approximately 21 minutes and highlights the challenges faced by Deaf athletes. It aims to explore the significance of competing in the Deaflympics and presents voices such as that of a high school student who expresses a desire to aim for the Games with gratitude. It raises essential questions about creating a society where hearing and non-hearing individuals can coexist.
Hosts and Guests
The event, hosted by the Toshima Mirai Cultural Foundation, has the support of the Toshima Board of Education and cooperation from the Tokyo Deaf Association. A sign language workshop will be led by Wataru Nozoe, and the talk event will be moderated by Tatsuhiro Awano, featuring guests such as Deaf table tennis player Yoshinori Kamizawa and Deaf women's volleyball player Yumi Hasegawa.
