SlowFast's Initiative at the 2025 Odakyu Family Fun Fest

In a proactive step towards sustainability, SlowFast, a startup based in Sumida, Tokyo, will participate in the "Odakyu Family Fun Fest 2025" on December 6th and 7th. This innovative company aims to promote a circular model for children's footwear by offering a collection box for outgrown shoes at the event. Supported by the Tokyo Railway Innovation Partnership (TRIP), SlowFast intends to engage families and local enthusiasts in reducing waste and promoting recycling practices for children’s shoes.

Background and Objective of Participation

Children grow quickly, leading to frequent cases of shoes becoming too small within a short period of time. With this understanding, SlowFast has previously collaborated with communities through public programs, establishing collection points in local libraries and other public facilities, aimed at turning "unused shoes" into valuable resources. By participating in this popular family-oriented event, SlowFast seeks to provide an opportunity for many parents and children to experience the importance of recycling shoes firsthand.

Collaboration with TRIP

SlowFast’s initiative at the event is made possible through cooperation with TRIP, which focuses on connecting communities and individuals via railway networks. The synergy between SlowFast's vision of linking used shoes to future value and TRIP’s mission illustrates a cohesive approach to sustainability. Attendees will be able to drop off their shoes at a dedicated booth, helping to foster a community spirit of sharing and recycling.

Collection Details

The collection will focus on children’s shoes ranging from size 12 to 24 centimeters.
All collected shoes will be cleaned and then rented or resold, thus contributing to the realization of an effective circular model.
