New York Angels Welcomes Peter Bodenheimer as Executive Director to Drive Strategic Growth
New York Angels Welcomes New Leadership
On March 26, 2026, New York Angels (NYA) made a significant announcement in the venture capital community with the appointment of Peter Bodenheimer as their new Executive Director. This leadership transition marks a pivotal moment for NYA, an organization committed to supporting early-stage startups through investment and guidance.
Background and Experience
Peter Bodenheimer joins NYA with an impressive background that spans over 20 years, making him a well-respected figure in the angel investment landscape. He has held various roles such as product leader, co-founder, angel investor, and venture capitalist, all of which have prepared him for this essential position at NYA. Prior to this new role, Bodenheimer served as a U.S. Venture Partner for PeakBridge, a European foodtech venture capital firm. His expertise in identifying and nurturing startup potential is one of the main reasons for his selection as Executive Director.
His past experiences are notable. At SOSV, he led the Food-X Accelerator and facilitated investments in more than 60 early-stage companies, including Halla, which was eventually acquired by Wynshop. Bodenheimer has also co-founded Flatstack, a global software development company, and BarNotes, a social platform for cocktail enthusiasts. As an angel investor, he has backed successful ventures like The 86 Co. and InKind.
Vision for New York Angels
Cindy Cook, Chair of New York Angels, expressed her enthusiasm about Bodenheimer’s appointment, emphasizing that he is an ideal fit for the organization’s mission. She noted that as NYA focuses on impactful engagement with founders and enhancing its investment performance, Bodenheimer’s leadership would be invaluable.
In taking on this role, Bodenheimer will oversee internal operations and collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to shape the strategic direction of the organization. His responsibilities will include expanding the NYA ecosystem by fostering stronger relationships among founders, investors, and institutional partners, as well as enhancing NYA's program offerings and outreach within the early-stage community.
“I’m excited to join New York Angels, an organization that has built its reputation over decades by giving founders a meaningful edge,” Bodenheimer stated. He further remarked on the caliber of the organization's membership, which consists of seasoned founders and investors, creating a robust network across various industries.
Bodenheimer aims to boost NYA’s visibility and influence as trends in venture capital evolve. His commitment includes equipping NYA members to take a more active role in championing outstanding startups and increasing NYA's standing among top founders in the nation.
Legacy and Transition
This leadership change occurs during a period of transition for NYA, as Liz Lindsey, the previous Executive Director, will retire after 12 fruitful years with the organization. Under her leadership, NYA has maintained high operational standards, having facilitated pitches from approximately 1,600 founders and overseeing numerous successful exits.
As New York Angels moves forward with Peter Bodenheimer at the helm, the organization is set to strengthen its mission of providing significant support and resources to emerging startups, solidifying its role as a key player in the angel investment sector. With a history of success and a clear vision for the future, NYA is poised for continued growth and impact in the startup ecosystem.
