Huntsman Corporation Announces Leadership Transition in the Polyurethanes Division

Huntsman Corporation, a prominent player in the specialty chemicals industry, has made significant announcements regarding leadership transitions within its Polyurethanes division. Tony Hankins, who has served as Division President, is set to retire at the end of this calendar year. His departure marks the end of a distinguished career that began in 1980, during which he played a pivotal role in the company’s developments and the expansion of its operations in China.

Effective June 1, 2025, Steen Weien Hansen will take over as the new President of Huntsman Polyurethanes. Hansen currently holds the position of Senior Vice President, overseeing various key sectors including global automotive and elastomers, as well as operations in the Americas. His considerable experience in the chemical industry and strategic leadership in complex business environments position him well for this new role.

Mr. Hankins has been a cornerstone of the company, having advanced through multiple leadership roles since the acquisition of Imperial Chemical Industries. His legacy includes building a strong foundation for Huntsman's global operations and fostering a team of capable leaders. To ensure a smooth transition, Hankins will continue to support company executives and the board until December 31, 2025.

Steen Hansen joined the Huntsman family during the acquisition of Imperial Chemical’s polyurethanes division in 1999. Initially starting in corporate purchasing, Hansen shifted to a commercial role within Europe two years later. His tenure also includes significant contributions to the Advanced Materials business, where he served as Vice President for Asia Pacific operations before returning to polyurethanes. In 2022, Hansen relocated to the United States, focusing on enhancing the strategic approach to the division's challenges.

Peter R. Huntsman, the President, CEO, and Chairman of Huntsman Corporation, praised Hankins for his exceptional service, noting the vast impact he has had on the company and the next generation of leaders under his guidance. With Hansen's appointment, Huntsman Corporation is confident in the continuity of strategic execution and growth within its Polyurethanes division.

Huntsman Corporation operates as a global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated and specialty chemicals, with annual revenues nearing $6 billion in 2024. The company employs around 6,300 associates across more than 60 facilities worldwide, showcasing its expansive reach in the industry.

The transition marks not just a change in personnel but a continuation of Huntsman’s commitment to excellence and innovation in the chemical sector. As the company navigates the evolving landscape of global markets, the leadership under Steen Hansen is expected to further strengthen the division’s operations and uphold Huntsman's reputation as a leader in specialty chemicals.
