Shu Ishihara remarked, "I am honored to take on the roles of Chairman of the Tokyo Bar Association and Vice Chairman of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations. The Tokyo Bar is the largest bar association in Japan, with over 9,700 members. Our organization is dedicated to addressing human rights issues across various demographics, including children, seniors, individuals with disabilities, women, sexual minorities, foreign nationals, and traditional consumer and labor issues. We also engage in environmental matters, criminal incidents, and support for both victims and the families of offenders. Our legal services include consultations, lawyer referrals, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), and educational initiatives on legal matters. My appointment marks the first from a large law firm to this significant position."

The Japan Federation of Bar Associations is a collective of all lawyers and bar associations throughout Japan, responsible for overseeing professional ethics and promoting the mission of legal advocates.
