St. Matthew's Parish School Announces Exciting Plans for 2026 Return to Pacific Palisades Campus
Exciting Return for St. Matthew's Parish School
St. Matthew's Parish School, a cherished institution in the Pacific Palisades community, has officially announced comprehensive plans for its return to the campus in Fall 2026. This announcement came during a community event attended by eager families, faculty, staff, and parishioners, marking a significant milestone following the destruction caused by the Palisades Fire.
The school has temporarily relocated to Santa Monica, where Head of School Alley Michaelson and Campus Development Partner Will McGregor presented architectural plans that include visual renderings of both remediated and temporary structures. Michaelson expressed enthusiasm, stating, "Today marks an important milestone in our journey home. Each student returning to the Bienveneda campus will experience a newly designed classroom space, whether in existing facilities or in temporary structures. We are committed to not only maintaining our educational standards but enhancing them."
The transition back to the Pacific Palisades campus is being carefully orchestrated to ensure minimal disruption. A new village of temporary classrooms will host the Early Childhood program, Kindergarten, and First Grade, allowing the school to continue functioning while redevelopment occurs. Michaelson emphasized the importance of community health and safety, stating, "Our task force focused on finding the best experts and went above and beyond standard testing to ensure a swift return."
For the past nine months, a task force made up of community members and leading industrial hygienists has worked tirelessly to test and remediate the school grounds. The measures taken include installing advanced safety technology such as HEPA vacuum cleaning systems, MERV 13 air filters, and air purification monitors throughout all indoor spaces, ensuring a healthy learning environment for all.
Reflecting on the school’s resilience, Michaelson shared her admiration for the community’s unwavering dedication, stating, "I continue to be inspired by our bright future at St. Matthew's. Our aim is to honor our rich history while creating an environment that will serve future generations. This journey goes beyond merely rebuilding a campus; it is about revitalizing the heart of our community."
During this transitional period, St. Matthew's is investing in its temporary locations in Santa Monica and West Los Angeles, transforming them into inspiring spaces that offer full academic programming. Enrollments for the 2026-2027 academic year, as well as information about Admission Open House Events, are now available on the school’s official website.
Founded in 1949, St. Matthew's Parish School has long been a pillar in the Pacific Palisades community, delivering a balanced and challenging education for over 75 years. As the school prepares for this exciting new chapter, it looks forward to continuing its legacy of excellence in education for future generations.
