Exploring the Future of Travel: The Shaanxi Tour of China 2025 Highlights Innovation and Sustainability

The 'Travelogue of China 2025' series recently reached a significant milestone with its latest Shaanxi Tour, concluding last week in the scenic Shaanxi Province. This weeklong event welcomed twelve international journalists from eleven countries, including Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, and Moldova, to explore how this ancient land embraces modernity through innovation and ecological practices.

Shaanxi, historically the heart of Chinese civilization, is now at the forefront of implementing new technologies and sustainable practices. The tour included stops in Xi'an and Ankang, cities renowned for their historical importance and economic evolution. At a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) test flight base in Xi'an, journalists observed the rapid growth of the low-altitude economy, which is set to transform multiple sectors including logistics, agriculture, and public safety through cutting-edge drone technology. This is a vivid demonstration of how Shaanxi is at the helm of embracing future technologies to enhance its economic landscape.

The delegation also visited the Shaanxi Aerospace Breeding Engineering Technology Research Center, a pioneering hub dedicated to advancing agriculture through space-driven innovation. Here, researchers showcased new crop varieties engineered for higher yields and resilience, reflecting China's commitment to ensuring food security through the integration of science and agriculture.

One of the highlights was the tour of Aiju Grain and Oil Industry Group, a historic enterprise that has successfully evolved to become a key player in the agricultural cooperation between China and Kazakhstan, a testament to the Belt and Road Initiative. Kazakh journalist Olzhas Aday remarked, "In the past two years, China and Kazakhstan have engaged in very close cooperation in the agricultural sector. For us, having such a large country like China import our products is also a tremendous form of support."

Additionally, in Shiquan County of Ankang, the journalists witnessed a picturesque blend of nature and agriculture, where habitats for the rare crested ibis coexisted harmoniously with organic rice paddies. This stunning landscape not only represents China's dedication to ecological preservation but also symbolizes rural revitalization efforts aimed at blending traditional practices with modern demands.

Cultural immersion was another vital aspect of the tour. At a local basketball league known as "Cun BA," the lively community spirit was palpable. This grassroots initiative emphasized local engagement and showcased how sports can foster community ties and drive development. Tarakhchev Mikhail, CEO of Georgia’s For You Media, praised the league, saying, "The game was impressive. It proves that such grassroots village competitions contribute to the development of sports itself, and I am deeply impressed."

Organized collaboratively by the China Public Diplomacy Association and Global Times Online, the 'Travelogue of China 2025' series aims to connect international perspectives with stories of progress originating within China. Launched in 2023, this program has welcomed hundreds of overseas journalists across various regions, positioning local innovation within the larger framework of global opportunity throughout the years to come. Through events such as the Shaanxi Tour, participants gain firsthand insights into how Chinese cities are not only preserving their rich heritage but also stepping boldly into the future of global connectivity and sustainable practices.
