Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center Earns Spot in Newsweek's Best Surgery Centers for 2027

Recognition for Excellence in Orthopedic Surgery

On October 13, 2026, the Orthopedic Associates Surgery Center (OASC) was proudly named one of Newsweek's America's Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers for 2027. This recognition not only highlights the center's unwavering commitment to clinical quality but also emphasizes their dedication to patient safety and exceptional orthopedic care.

OASC, a pioneering physician-owned facility located in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, is one of only six ambulatory surgery centers in the state to receive this prestigious recognition. Nationwide, 750 centers were selected for this honor, demonstrating the center's excellence in a highly competitive field. Out of these centers, 61 stood out for their focus on orthopedic services, showcasing a particular strength in this specialty.

Founded in 2004 by the Orthopedic Associates of Hartford alongside Constitution Surgery Alliance (CSA), OASC has established itself as the first physician-owned orthopedic surgery center in the region. Today, it operates three ambulatory surgery centers, focusing on providing outstanding outpatient surgical services tailored to meet the needs of patients.

Thomas Acampora, Vice President of Operations for CSA and OASC, expressed pride in the recognition, stating, "We are thrilled that OASC has been recognized among the leading ambulatory surgery centers in the nation. Our team remains focused on maintaining the highest safety and quality standards while ensuring a comfortable surgical experience for our patients. This award underscores our daily commitment to excellence."

Dr. Pietro Memmo, President of Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, added, "Since our inception more than two decades ago, our goal has been to deliver high-quality orthopedic surgical care in an outpatient environment. This recognition is a testament to the expertise of our physicians, the dedication of our staff, and the strength of our care model. We are proud to be featured alongside top ambulatory surgery centers across the country."

The criteria for Newsweek's America's Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2027 rankings were meticulously gathered from various data sources that focus on quality metrics, including surgical performance indicators, peer assessments via a national online survey, patient experience surveys, and accreditation data. This rigorous evaluation process further validates the high standards and specialized care provided at OASC.

In addition to this latest accolade, OASC has received other national recognition for its commitment to quality and patient safety, having been awarded as a Top Ambulatory Surgery Center by The Leapfrog Group for three consecutive years — 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Operating from a modern facility that spans 45,000 square feet, OASC performs over 10,000 procedures annually. The center boasts advanced surgical technologies and a range of operating rooms, supported by a highly skilled, dedicated clinical team specializing in orthopedic care.

OASC not only focuses on safety and innovation in outpatient surgery but also prioritizes patient satisfaction, creating an environment where patients feel comfortable and well-cared for.
