Dr. Dennis Keene Retires After 45 Years of Musical Excellence

After an impressive tenure of 45 years, Dr. Dennis Keene will officially retire as the Organist and Choirmaster of the Church of the Ascension in New York City this May. Ascension, a historic Episcopal parish located in Greenwich Village, has been not only a home for Dr. Keene but also the center of the vibrant musical tradition he has so passionately cultivated.

During his nearly five decades in this role, Dr. Keene has significantly influenced the church's musical life.
