Dunlop Aircraft Tyres Appoints Lee Timbrell as Chief Commercial Officer
Dunlop Aircraft Tyres, a respected name in high-performance aircraft tyre manufacturing, has announced the appointment of Lee Timbrell as their new Chief Commercial Officer. This strategic move is intended to strengthen the company's global approach to commercial activities including sales, business development, and customer relations.
Lee Timbrell joins Dunlop after an impressive tenure at Safran Actuation Systems, where he served as Senior Director for Aftermarket Services. His responsibilities included overseeing aftermarket sales strategies and ensuring profitability across multiple global maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sites. During his five years at Safran, Timbrell was pivotal in transitioning the aftermarket segment following the acquisition of Collins Aerospace's flight control and actuation division.
Before his time at Safran, Timbrell held significant leadership roles within Collins Aerospace, as well as at airline giants like Cathay Pacific Airways and Turner Aviation. His extensive background in the aerospace sector is underscored by a strong academic foundation: he holds an MBA in Management and a Bachelor’s in Aeronautical Engineering, making him well-suited to navigate the complexities of the aviation industry.
Susan McKenna, CEO of Dunlop, expressed her enthusiasm about Timbrell's arrival. She remarked, “We're at a crucial juncture in our 100-year history, having recently completed a successful bond offering. Lee's expertise and experience in fostering long-term partnerships are exactly what we need to propel Dunlop's next growth phase.”
In his new role, Timbrell will helm the company's commercial operations, aiming to leverage Dunlop’s century-old reputation while focusing on increased customer engagement and satisfaction. He also noted, “I am excited to be part of Dunlop and to further enhance the brand’s equity in the aviation sector. Together, we will advance our commercial strategy and provide value to our customers worldwide.”
Dunlop Aircraft Tyres is headquartered in Birmingham, England, and is noteworthy for being the sole manufacturer dedicated entirely to aircraft tyres. The company operates three facilities—located in the UK, North Carolina, and China—and is committed to offering the best performance and service in the industry.
As part of Liberty Hall Capital Partners’ portfolio, Dunlop is poised for future growth, reinforcing its market presence in the commercial, military, and freight aircraft segments. Under Timbrell's leadership, there’s optimism that Dunlop will not only maintain its competitive edge but also explore new opportunities to meet the evolving needs of its customer base.
The appointment of Timbrell signals Dunlop's commitment to enhancing its global competitiveness in the aerospace market. As the landscape of aerospace continues to shift with advancements in technology and changes in consumer needs, having a seasoned executive like Timbrell is likely to be instrumental in charting a course for sustained innovation and leadership in aircraft tyre manufacturing.
