Houston PetSet's Major Success in Alvin
On January 4, 2025, Houston PetSet, a dedicated nonprofit organization focused on alleviating Houston's homeless animal crisis, hosted a record-breaking event in Alvin, Texas. The community microchip and vaccination clinic attracted an impressive 1,033 pets, making it the largest turnout in the organization's history.
A Community Effort
Pet owners traveled from distances as far as 65 miles to participate in this essential health service, with each pet receiving core vaccinations and a registered microchip for a minimal fee of only $5. The event was not only a feat of logistical precision but also a testament to the solidarity and commitment of the local community towards animal welfare.
Partnering with
Three Little Pitties Rescue, a nonprofit based in nearby Friendswood, Houston PetSet provided additional services that included free flea and tick medications, as well as donated collars and leashes for pets in need. This collaboration showcased the spirit of community in tackling the crucial issue of pet health and welfare in Houston.
Volunteers Make It Happen
The event would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of dozens of volunteers from various animal welfare organizations. These dedicated individuals helped ensure that the event ran smoothly, processing more than 1,000 owned pets within just 5 hours, a remarkable achievement for both Houston PetSet and its partners.
This successful event was made possible through the generosity of local donors and businesses. Special recognition goes to Cass Shewbart, who sponsored the event at the Alvin Meadow Park Shopping Center. Furthermore, Petco Love played a vital role by donating the core vaccines, ensuring that essential health services remained accessible to pet owners.
Upcoming Events
Looking ahead, Houston PetSet is set to organize another $5 community event slated for May 31, 2025, in Sunnyside. As with previous events, appointments will be required, and registration will open one week prior. Pet owners can register up to five pets by visiting
