The new headquarters features a state-of-the-art roasting facility where meticulous coffee roasting takes place, ensuring that the various expressions of specialty coffee are met with precision and care. Under the guidance of a world champion roaster, Philocoffea has cultivated an environment where questions such as, "Why this roasting recipe for this bean?" and "What message do we want to deliver through this cup?" are integral to the daily practice of their team. This commitment is set to boost both the technical skills and accountability of the entire team, driving them towards achieving high-quality and stable coffee output.

Cutting-Edge Equipment at the New Roastery



Japanese innovation is on display with the introduction of advanced machinery like the SOVDA sorting machine, the first of its kind in Japan. This machine revolutionizes the sorting process, efficiently removing defective beans, which were previously sorted manually. To enhance roasting quality, Philocoffea employs the LORING Smart Roast S15 Falcon, a hot air roaster that minimizes the impact of oxygen during the roasting process, resulting in coffee that is both clean and rich in flavor with a lasting sweetness.

According to Tetsu Kasuya, the owner and head roaster, this relocation is a pivotal part of Philocoffea’s vision for the next decade. "Creating an environment where the whole team can engage seriously with coffee allows us to deliver exceptional coffee experiences to more people," he states. Tetsu Kasuya, who achieved international fame as the first Asian champion at the World Brewers Cup in 2016, leads this innovative coffee enterprise. Kasuya’s journey began in 2012 after he discovered his passion for coffee during a hospital stay caused by type 1 diabetes. Currently, he advocates for the art of coffee making, having developed methods that empower baristas and coffee enthusiasts worldwide. His innovative 4:6 method has become a standard in hand-drip coffee brewing.

In 2024, Philocoffea will also launch a joint venture with Daios Japan, aiming to broaden coffee access in corporate settings.
