Completion of Membrane Roof at Omura City Boat Racing Course Enhances Visitor Experience

Membrane Roof Installation at Omura City Boat Racing Course

Tsunami Industrial Co., a leader in large membrane structures based in Tokyo and Osaka, has successfully completed the membrane roof construction at the Omura City Boat Racing Course (known as BOAT RACE Omura) in Nagasaki Prefecture. This new structure is essential as it connects with an adjacent roof that Tsunami Industrial had previously installed, ensuring a cohesive design throughout the facility.

The Omura City Boat Racing Course holds a significant place in Japan's history as it is recognized as the birthplace of competitive boat racing, hosting the country's first official race. Located at Japan's southernmost and westernmost boat racing venue, the newly constructed membrane roof covers a pedestrian walkway leading to the parking area, providing visitors protection from rain, wind, and direct sunlight, thus creating a safe and comfortable passage.

The white membrane roof boasts a solar reflection rate of over 75%, effectively reducing harsh sunlight and harmful UV rays. Its high translucency allows natural light to filter through, creating a bright and airy environment. The flexibility and lightness of the material set it apart from traditional building materials. Additionally, with the advanced technology of titanium dioxide photocatalysts applied to the membrane's surface, organic stains are broken down and washed away by rainwater, maintaining the roof's clean and bright appearance over time.

Recently, boat racing venues have undergone renovations and updates aimed at attracting families and younger generations of visitors. This latest enhancement aligns with efforts to provide comfortable amenities, employing the lightweight membrane roof to foster a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere.
