SK Chemicals to Showcase Innovations in Recycling at K 2025 Plastic Fair

SK Chemicals to Present at K 2025

SK Chemicals is set to participate in the K 2025 fair, the world’s largest trade show for plastics and rubber, which will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, from October 8 to 15, 2025. This event is a vital platform for companies across the globe to showcase their latest innovations and advancements in the field of plastics.

The K fair is renowned for its substantial scale, recognized as one of the premier events in the industry alongside NPE in the U.S. and Chinaplas in China. The 2025 edition, themed "The Power of Plastics! Green, Smart, Responsible," is expected to feature more than 3,000 exhibitors from 61 countries.

At K 2025, SK Chemicals aims to highlight its commitment to sustainability through its range of products and technologies focused on recyclability and environmental responsibility. Under the slogan "On-hand solution for a sustainable tomorrow," the company will exhibit over 70 commercially available products that showcase its technical readiness and capacity to meet customer needs immediately.

Focus Areas: Recyclability, Recycling, and Bio Solutions

SK Chemicals’ presentation will revolve around three key themes: recyclable materials, recycled products, and bio-based solutions. One of the highlights will be the Recycling Zone, featuring end products made from circular recycled materials such as SKYPET CR and ECOTRIA CLARO. This area will be segmented into various industries including cosmetics, automotive, food and beverages, and fashion.

Moreover, a unique immersive exhibit will showcase the Closed Loop Solution—a comprehensive approach to recycling that maintains the quality and usability of plastics throughout the recycling process, from collection to production and commercialization.

Innovations in Automotive Applications

A significant focus will also be placed on the automotive sector, where SK Chemicals will reveal for the first time vehicle carpet and yarn manufactured from SKYPET CR, developed in collaboration with Durmont in Austria. Additionally, they will showcase an innovative interior roof lining created in partnership with Hyundai Motor Company, specifically for the Hyundai IONIQ 5.

Bio-Based Product Line

In the realm of bio-based solutions, SK Chemicals will display a variety of products manufactured with ECOZEN, a heat-resistant copolyester containing up to 15% biomass. This product line includes kitchen appliances, food containers, children’s dinnerware, and sports bottles. They will also showcase items made from ECOTRION, a 100% bio-based polyol, which serves as an intermediate for spandex and synthetic leather, as well as finished goods like bags, shoes, gloves, and golf balls.

Additional Product Highlights

The exhibit will also present SKYGREEN, a copolyester valued for its transparency and chemical resistance, utilized in cosmetics, food packaging, and home appliances. Another highlight is SKYPEL, a polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer that combines rubber-like elasticity with the performance of engineering plastics, applicable in automotive parts, industrial hoses, underwater cables, and breathable films.

Commitment to Circular Economy

SK Chemicals' commitment to a circular economy was further underscored by the European Union's recent approval of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), positioning Europe as a leading area for the adoption of recycled materials. The European recycled PET market is projected to grow at an annual rate exceeding 7%, while the global plastic recycling market is expected to reach $120 billion by 2030, significantly up from $58 billion in 2019.

“Circulatory character has become a core requirement in global markets. SK Chemicals provides immediate implementation recycling and bio-solutions recognized for their quality and commercial readiness,” said Ahn Jae-hyun, CEO of SK Chemicals. “We will continue to expand collaborations with global companies and enhance SK Chemicals' tech and brand leadership as the market shifts towards recycled plastics.”
