Celebrating Excellence: The 57th Aderans National Technical Competition

On January 20, 2026, the renowned "Aderans National Technical Competition" took place at the Zenriren Building in Shibuya, Tokyo, organized by Aderans Co., Ltd, under the leadership of CEO Hiroaki Suzuki. This event is a hallmark of the brand’s commitment to perfecting its unique wig technology and the overarching philosophy of providing the highest level of skill and knowledge.

A Tradition of Excellence

Established in 1980, the Aderans National Technical Competition has become a prestigious event for wig artisans, highlighting the craft of custom wig creation, cutting, styling, and customer service. Participants could compete in several categories, including the Freestyle category (for both men's and women's wigs), the Aderans Roleplay category, and a New Stylist section for employees in their first three years of service. A total of 960 qualified hairstylists from Aderans salons and the domestic business headquarters were eligible to participate, leading to a competitive selection process that culminated in the championship.

Freestyle Category

In the Freestyle category, contestants showcased their skills by creating an attachment of wigs onto mannequins. They had one hour to cut and style their creations based on a theme of their choice. Contestants chose materials and colors freely, adopting innovative styles to impress the judges. Notably, the men’s category used the latest product, "AD Neo Fit," while the women’s category employed the newly released "Eve Premier Aura," blending advanced technology with personal artistry.

New Stylist Category

The New Stylist section, reinstated in 2003, allowed young talents to demonstrate their skills under time constraints, focusing on precision and adherence to styling standards. Participants had a mere 30 minutes to apply and style a pre-cut wig on a mannequin, emphasizing technique and efficiency.

Aderans Roleplay Category

Participants tested their expertise in product knowledge and customer interaction through the Aderans Roleplay category, where they role-played customer interactions while demonstrating new products. Candidates were judged on communication skills, accuracy, and overall presentation.

Fontaine Categories

Simultaneously, another competition was held focusing on the Fontaine brand, featuring Roleplay and Styling categories, further emphasizing customer interaction and technical styling skills. With the chosen finalists from Fontaine’s various retail outlets, this competition showcased a blend of creativity and customer service.

Celebrating the Winners

The competition concluded with several winners from diverse categories, where talent from the Kyushu sales department notably shone, securing three out of the six championships. Each winner expressed heartfelt gratitude towards mentors and colleagues who supported their journey. Noteworthy victories included:
  • - Men's Freestyle: Jin Fujiwara, Aderans Yamagata, whose theme was “MELLOW COLORS.” His heartfelt reflections on his journey emphasized gratitude for years of support and experience.
  • - Women's Freestyle: Yachiyo Tsujimura, Aderans Sasebo, whose winning piece captured the essence of beauty amidst chaotic times.
  • - New Stylist: Sakura Chikamatsu, Aderans Chiba, highlighted her determination to excel in her first and final chance at this category.
  • - Aderans Roleplay: Chieko Suzaki, Aderans Hakata, focused on enhancing her presentation with effective communication techniques.
