Strengthening Global Workforce Solutions through Skilled Foreign Talent in Indonesia
In December 2025, Cooperative Association PAJIA, in collaboration with local companies such as Okita Doken and Yamabushi Pakom, successfully conducted recruitment interviews for foreign talent in Indonesia’s Karawang region. This initiative targets university graduates aspiring to work in Japan under the "Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services" visa category.
The interviews aimed at enhancing the recruitment of highly skilled individuals, reflecting an increasing need for specialized workforce in the construction sector. Three candidates were selected to undergo approximately ten months of Japanese language education prior to commencing their roles as construction managers.

Through targeted recruitment efforts primarily in Java, six promising candidates emerged, all of whom had graduated from distinguished engineering institutions, with many specializing in civil engineering or similar technical fields. They demonstrated proficiency in essential software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Theodolite, and Waterpass, and brought relevant internship experience within Indonesia’s construction industry. Some candidates even held qualifications in the Japanese language, with JFTA level 2 certifications recorded.
Interview Process
Out of the six candidates, two had to attend the interviews online due to flooding that affected their transportation. The interview process involved several components:

Company and Job Role Introduction
Detailed explanations of the company's operations were provided using informational materials, aiming to resolve expectations related to work and life gaps after arriving in Japan.
2.
Individual Interviews (Approx. 30 Minutes Each)
- Each applicant presented themselves and their work experiences for about five minutes, followed by a Q&A session.
- Candidates showcased projects completed during university, utilizing AutoCAD, which highlighted their technical expertise.
- The Q&A segment offered insight into each candidate's work history, career aspirations, concerns about living in Japan, especially the severe winter conditions in Hokkaido, and addressed specific cultural differences such as adhering to Islamic practices.
Candidates provided thoughtful answers, expressing prior experience as site supervisors within their home country, aspirations to learn Japanese civil engineering techniques, and ambitions to establish their design firms in the future. They also conveyed a willingness to respect Japanese regulations while adapting to their new environment.

Announcement of Selected Candidates
Successful candidates will embark on their journey towards their Japanese employment after an extensive Japanese language training period. During the interviews, many candidates asked specific questions about how their expertise could contribute to their respective positions, indicating a mutual interest in long-term professional development.
