CaTe Completes First Patient Enrollment in Heart Disease Management Program Trials

CaTe's Groundbreaking Step in Heart Disease Management Clinical Trials

CaTe Inc., based in Bunkyo, Tokyo, has recently marked a significant milestone by completing the enrollment of its first patient in the clinical trials for its heart disease management program, known as CRS-1. This initiative aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the device, a crucial component in their mission to revolutionize at-home rehabilitation for heart disease patients.

The Importance of This Trial

Heart disease remains a leading cause of mortality both domestically and globally. In Japan, it ranks as the second leading cause of death, while it tops the list worldwide. Post-discharge, heart failure patients face a daunting one-third chance of being readmitted within a year, with a mortality rate of one in seven—a stark reality underscoring the urgency for effective rehabilitation solutions.

Despite the clear benefits of cardiac rehabilitation in reducing readmission rates and mortality, participation in outpatient rehabilitation programs in Japan stands around a mere 7%. This limited engagement results in an alarming number of patients experiencing repeat hospitalizations, ultimately increasing the financial burden on the healthcare system. Recognizing these challenges, CaTe is committed to advancing its research and development for a program that supports at-home exercise therapies, seeking timely integration of this technology into society.

The Vision Behind CRS-1

The CRS-1 program aims to provide continuous cardiac rehabilitation for those unable to attend outpatient sessions. The device's application is focused on patients in the late recovery phase of cardiovascular disease, providing them with an integrated at-home rehabilitation experience. By enhancing participation in heart rehabilitation programs, CaTe aspires to lower rates of rehospitalization and mortality, bridge regional disparities in healthcare, and alleviate overall medical expenses for patients and the healthcare system.

Trial Structure

The clinical trial involves a control group receiving standard outpatient rehabilitation compared to an intervention group participating in comprehensive at-home cardiac rehabilitation using the CRS-1 device. This structured comparison aims to validate CRS-1's effectiveness in enhancing the recovery journey of heart disease patients.
