Eve Air Mobility Achieves a Major Milestone
Eve Air Mobility has recently announced a significant achievement in their development of electric Vertical TakeOff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The company’s engineering prototype successfully completed its first partial transition flight, showcasing advancements in air mobility technology. The transition flight is noted for its pivotal test of the aircraft’s rear pusher propeller, which is essential for shifting from vertical takeoff to wing-borne forward flight. During this crucial test, the prototype reached a remarkable stabilized speed of 27 knots and a maximum ground speed of 30 knots, with the propeller spinning up to 1,200 RPM.
The impressive flight lasted for 3 minutes and 9 seconds, covering approximately 0.84 nautical miles while climbing to a height of 90 feet above the ground. Transitioning from vertical lift to forward flight is one of the most critical phases of eVTOL operations. Following the successful flights, the company intends to execute datalink tests to confirm radio link performance, which is crucial for operational capabilities at speeds nearing 50 knots.
