Community Connections through Toys and Trust
On August 5, 2026, the First Responders Children's Foundation (FRCF) partnered with CSX to host a series of National Night Out events across the Albany region and Upstate New York. This collective effort marked a significant occasion where first responders came together with local residents to nurture trust and connections within the community. These celebrations spanned multiple locations, resulting in a festive atmosphere filled with joy and camaraderie.
The national initiative aimed to bring first responders and community members closer, with 18 engaging events held concurrently in the region. A staggering total of over 13,000 toys were distributed to local children, ensuring that the spirit of giving was at the forefront of the occasion. The events featured a multitude of activities designed to entertain and educate children, including face painting, balloon art, bounce castles, and exhilarating rock climbing.
One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity for attendees to engage with first responder vehicles and equipment, allowing children and their families to connect with those who serve their communities. Additionally, K-9 demonstrations showcased the vital roles these animals play in public safety, emphasizing the importance of teamwork between first responders and their four-legged partners.
FRCF's President and CEO, Jillian Crane, expressed gratitude for the support received from CSX, stating, "We are fortunate to partner with CSX, who share our commitment to bolstering first responder community engagement efforts year-round. Events like National Night Out exemplify our dedication to building relationships through joyful interactions between local law enforcement and the children they serve."
This partnership between FRCF and CSX is part of a multi-year collaboration aimed at strengthening community ties and providing essential support for first responders and their families. Over the years, they’ve collectively distributed more than 34,000 toys during National Night Out events across 13 states, further illustrating their commitment to public service and community engagement.
Angela Costa, Senior Manager of Community Investment at CSX, remarked, "Our partnership with the First Responders Children's Foundation reflects our commitment to strengthening the communities where our employees live and work. The positive impact of National Night Out events reverberates through communities and our workforce alike. Supporting our first responders means supporting their families, as they are the backbone of service in our neighborhoods."
