Individual Centricity Secures Patent to Combat Deepfake Fraud with Innovative Identity Technology

Individual Centricity Secures Patent for Game-Changing Identity Technology

In a significant milestone for digital identity security, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted Individual Centricity Corporation (IC-Corp) a Notice of Allowance for its patent application related to a novel identity authentication technology. The patent, designated as application number 18/328,438, focuses on methods and systems that prioritize individual-centric security measures, effectively combating the evolving threats posed by deepfake fraud.

The Rise of Deepfake Technology

As artificial intelligence increasingly becomes integrated into daily life, the risk of deepfakes—utlizing AI to create convincing but fabricated audio and visual content—has surged. Case in point: a recent incident in Hong Kong saw a finance employee unwittingly transferring $25.6 million to fraudsters disguised as his company’s executives, all thanks to counterfeit videos. This alarming trend highlights the urgent need for robust verification systems capable of distinguishing between genuine identities and sophisticated fakes.

IC-Corp’s Innovative Approach

What sets IC-Corp's technology apart is its reliance on individual devices rather than centralized databases. The company emphasizes that while competitors may store vast amounts of user data, making it vulnerable to breaches, their unique system authenticates identities based on characteristics known only to the individual. This decentralized method not only enhances privacy but also significantly reduces the risk of identity theft.

Bob DeKoning, CEO of IC-Corp, remarked, “Everyone else is guarding a vault full of your data. We upload nothing that can be stolen or faked.” With this philosophy at its core, IC-Corp’s technology is designed to continuously verify the individual’s identity throughout interactions, rather than relying on static comparisons against a database. This dynamic verification approach poses a significant challenge for fraudsters attempting to use deepfake technology.
