U.S. Pain Foundation Launches Powerful Campaign Uniting Millions Living With Chronic Pain

U.S. Pain Foundation Champions the #OneVoiceForPain Campaign

Chronic pain is an invisible battle faced by over 60 million Americans, encompassing individuals of diverse ages and medical backgrounds. This September, to mark Pain Awareness Month, the U.S. Pain Foundation is launching its impactful campaign, #OneVoiceForPain, aimed at illuminating the unique experiences of those living with chronic pain.

Each person affected by chronic pain has their own story. However, many share similar struggles—fighting to be believed, tackling inadequate medical care, and coping with the daily realities imposed by pain. The campaign’s theme, All Ages. Countless Diagnoses. Millions of Stories. One Movement, underscores the shared journey of individuals battling pain, emphasizing both the diversity of experiences and the common struggles that unite them.

According to a recent survey conducted by the U.S. Pain Foundation, the complexity of chronic pain is staggering. Respondents reported an average of ten unique diagnoses, revealing how multiple conditions can affect individuals in various ways. Alarmingly, 73% expressed feelings of social isolation or misunderstanding. Nicole Hemmenway, CEO of the U.S. Pain Foundation, poignantly noted, “Chronic pain may look different from person to person, but the need to be heard, understood, and supported is universal.”

The #OneVoiceForPain campaign not only integrates personal narratives but also seeks to foster a sense of community among those affected. By gathering diverse experiences, it aims to create a more profound understanding of the challenges faced by those living with chronic pain, building connections and driving the push for impactful change.

Themes Explored

The campaign will delve into four interconnected themes throughout September:
  • - All Ages: Understanding how chronic pain affects individuals at every stage of life.
  • - Countless Diagnoses: Identifying the commonalities among people living with pain, irrespective of their conditions.
  • - Millions of Stories: Shedding light on the lived experiences and insights gathered from the U.S. Pain Foundation's survey, revealing essential needs and priorities.
  • - One Movement: Highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts within and beyond the pain community to foster progress.

Through this campaign, the U.S. Pain Foundation aims to amplify the visibility of the shared experiences among pain sufferers while addressing the requirements and aspirations for change within the community. They invite everyone to participate in the #OneVoiceForPain initiative by increasing awareness, fostering connections, advocating for change, and ensuring that the voices of those living with pain are acknowledged in discussions about pain management and policy.
