The Atacama Group (TAG) recently made a significant contribution to the inaugural African Logistics and Communications Symposium (ALCS26), which took place in Addis Ababa from July 27 to 31, 2026. This notable event was co-hosted by U.S. Africa Command and the Ethiopian National Defense Force. It brought together delegates from 40 African nations, senior military leaders, logistics and communications experts, as well as industry representatives from both Africa and the United States.

This year's symposium was a milestone as it merged two long-standing events—the West Africa Logistics Conference and Africa Endeavor—into a single, continent-wide platform for the first time. The overarching theme, "Forging Partnerships, Driving Innovation, and Enhancing Collective Readiness," emphasized the need for African partners to connect with practical and sustainable solutions. It also highlighted the pivotal role that public-private partnerships play in enhancing regional capabilities.

Representatives from TAG included Co-Founding Partner Ali Khatau, Senior Advisor Nadir Shah, and Nicolai Swanepoel, who showcased the company’s significant bulk fuel storage projects. These projects are based in Damerjog, Djibouti, and Walvis Bay, Namibia, and are crucial for connecting landlocked markets to essential fuel supplies.

At the symposium, TAG displayed its initiatives in the industry exhibition hall, emphasizing its corridor distribution and truck ports that facilitate last-mile delivery to various inland markets. The discussions with AFRICOM senior command members, alongside delegates and officials from throughout Africa, underscored the importance of establishing efficient fuel supply chains across the region.

Scott Lewis, Founder and Executive Chairman of TAG, stated, "The region needs an efficient flow of fuel; TAG is well positioned as an American company to fulfill this necessity. We aim to service regional demands, including Ethiopia and Ethiopian Airlines via our fuel tank farm in Damerjog Port - Djibouti. Furthermore, our fuel tank farm at Walvis Bay Port - Namibia is designed to meet the needs of Botswana, Zambia, and Southern DRC, particularly in supporting the region's rare earth mines."

The Atacama Group is dedicated to enhancing infrastructure and resource management across Africa, focusing primarily on bulk fuel storage and logistics corridors built to U.S. specifications. With operations connecting coastal terminals in Djibouti and Namibia to the inland markets, TAG is significantly contributing to the region's economic development.

In conclusion, TAG’s involvement in ALCS26 highlighted its commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in the logistics and communications sectors across Africa. This symposium not only opened doors for more robust partnerships but also reinforced the critical role TAG plays in creating sustainable solutions to meet regional needs.
