Asian Hall of Fame Launches Destination Hawai'i

On February 12, 2026, a remarkable event will take place at Ben Bridge Timeworks in Honolulu as the Asian Hall of Fame (AHOF) presents Destination Hawai'i. This gathering is not only a launch event but also a celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The evening will feature private shopping beginning at 6:00 PM, followed by the program from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, where attendees are requested to dress in Aloha business attire. An identification check will be necessary during registration.

The event promises to delight guests with a cocktail-style standing reception, expertly catered by Panya Bistro Bakery, offering a flavorful representation of local culture and cuisine.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the presence of Annalisa Burgos, esteemed anchor of Hawai’i News Now, serving as the Master of Ceremonies. The event will honor Representative Jeanné Kapela with the prestigious America 250 Award, recognizing her dedication to civic service and the embodiment of the American spirit.

AHOF Chairwoman Melinda Rogers will share special remarks alongside esteemed directors including Keith Hamasaki, John Nicholas, Patty Soldo, Yi Zhang, Kimberly Vodang, and Jay Kim. A noteworthy musical performance will be delivered by Grammy Voting Member Maki Mae, who will treat the audience to songs from her upcoming album featuring Camilla Shae.

Recognizing Commitment and Service

Throughout the evening, patrons who have consistently supported AHOF for five consecutive years will be acknowledged with the Sapphire Anniversary Award. This esteemed recognition will be bestowed upon several honorees including Ada Chan Wong, Jeff and Leah Long, Mary Knell, Noble Mario Taylor, Sue Ying Taylor, and Patty Soldo.

The event will also see the attendance of new Global Council Trustees, Dr. Jennifer Camota Luebke and Merryl Hamasaki, which emphasizes the growing influence and recognition of the Asian Hall of Fame.

In addressing the meeting’s significance, Maki Hsieh, President and CEO of AHOF, expressed that the choice of Honolulu as a new destination reflects a shared vision among leaders from California, Washington, New York, and Hawaii. She notes the vital aim of the sex trafficking rescue initiative, which seeks to positively impact the state, known as a notable source, destination, and transit hub within the Pacific sex trade.

AHOF is proud to serve as a global ambassador of the American Dream through the recognition of iconic role models. Among its celebrated inductees are notable figures such as Connie Chung, Kristi Yamaguchi, Margaret Cho, Yao Ming, and Bruce Lee. Recently, AHOF has made significant strides with an impact of $1.2 million in community initiatives and talent development, assisting 177 fellows, scholars, and grant collaborators throughout the nation.
