Beko Advocates for Unified Industrial Strategy Aligned with Climate Goals in Clean Industrial Deal Event

Beko Advocates for a Unified Industrial Policy

Beko, Europe's largest home appliance manufacturer, has taken a significant step towards shaping the continent's industrial landscape by participating in the Clean Industrial Deal event. As the only signatory of the Antwerp declaration from the home appliances sector, Beko's presence at this event highlights its commitment to harmonizing industrial growth with climate ambitions.

The company emphasizes the urgent need for a transformative industrial policy that ensures industries investing in sustainability, decarbonization, and innovation remain globally competitive. Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO of Beko, shared his vision on the importance of a bold and investment-driven industrial strategy that aligns with European climate goals. He asserts that the Clean Industrial Deal represents a crucial turning point for Europe’s industrial future, but it must fulfill its promise of establishing Europe as a leader in green and competitive industries without jeopardizing its manufacturing base.

Beko argues that the home appliances sector is not only a major employer but also a key driver of innovation and supply chain resilience. The role that energy-efficient appliances play in reducing household emissions is critical. According to Bulgurlu, the production and use of these efficient appliances are some of the most viable, cost-effective methods for minimizing emissions and supporting the clean energy transition.

Currently, over 70% of Beko's production consists of energy-efficient appliances that contribute significantly to the company's revenue. This focus on energy efficiency reinforces the company’s belief that a balanced approach between profit and responsibility is possible. Beko serves as a leading example in sustainable innovation, creating products designed to save energy, minimize waste, align with the Green Deal, and promote cleaner living environments.

However, Beko acknowledges that it cannot achieve these ambitious goals alone. There is a pressing need for Europe to shift from reactive policies to proactive investments aimed at bolstering its industrial sector. Providing targeted incentives for renewable energy adoption and sustainable product development is essential to securing Europe's competitive future in the global market. This collaborative approach entails mobilizing investment incentives and fostering a level playing field in international trade.

Beko has established itself as a global leader, with a strong presence in over 55 countries and production facilities spanning multiple regions—including Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The company employs more than 50,000 individuals and operates 30 research and design centers, with over 2,300 researchers and more than 3,500 international patents.

To maintain its leadership in the home appliances industry, Beko continues to focus on delivering innovative products that resonate with contemporary consumer demands. The company aims to become a strategic enabler of Europe’s climate and industrial ambitions while upholding its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

As Europe strives to navigate its industrial landscape under evolving environmental and economic conditions, Beko stands firm in its advocacy for a unified approach that prioritizes clean innovation and competitive resilience. By championing the role of the home appliances industry in this context, Beko not only reinforces its market position but also contributes significantly to the broader goals of climate neutrality and energy transition.

Beko’s mission remains clear: to respect the world while earning respect globally. As Europe gears up for a new industrial era, Beko's vision and active participation signal a hopeful future in which sustainability and competitiveness can thrive together.
