CPHI & PMEC China: A Surge in International Participation
The CPHI & PMEC China event, scheduled from June 24 to 26, 2025, is set to return to the Shanghai New International Expo Center. This year's participation marks a historic surge in international visitors, attributed to improving prospects in the global pharmaceutical trade. As we approach the event, we anticipate more than 90,000 attendees, making it the largest pharmaceutical gathering ever organized in Asia, with over 12,000 leaders from the industry converging.
The rise in global interest for the CPHI & PMEC China event is closely linked to several positive shifts in the pharmaceutical industry, including the relaxation of trade tariffs, enhanced industry evaluations, and increased investment spending. The record number of international leaders attending underscores a growing appetite for sourcing suppliers of ingredients and equipment within China's dynamic manufacturing network.
One notable trend has been the increasing attraction of western pharmaceutical companies toward Chinese biotech assets. This interest is not solely geared toward accessing the domestic market but also encompasses opportunities for global licensing. Moreover, participation from the Middle East has surged as countries in the Gulf region implement strategies to establish regional manufacturing hubs. Delegations from India and the United States are also significantly represented this year.
Natasha Jennings, Head of Global Growth Marketing, emphasized, "The industry's fundamentals remain incredibly strong, with the global pharmaceutical sector achieving record goals in new product discovery and returning to growth. International participants are leveraging China's vast network of ingredient suppliers, manufacturers, and output commodities to drive global production growth."
The event is poised to reflect high-level industry engagement, with over 80% of international attendees possessing purchasing authority and more than 50% holding senior positions. Additional programs will include a buyer program for natural extracts on June 23, as well as a program tailored for pharmaceutical machinery buyers on June 24 and 25. The exhibition will also feature the CPHI Celebration Awards, a dedicated conference with the 10th Biopharmaceuticals Outlook Summit, an innovation gallery, and guided tours of regional operations.
Spanning over 230,000 square meters, the event will showcase 3,500 exhibitors from 150 countries across 12 specialized sectors, including the newly introduced "BioTech" and "Fluid Precision Equipment". Jennings added, "Global leaders are now looking to expand their partner networks in China and establish primary, secondary, and reserve suppliers for long-term strategic planning. As trade relations improve, we are witnessing a renaissance in global pharmaceutical partnerships."
