In a powerful demonstration of safety innovation, the automotive giants Hyundai and Kia have once again set the standard in vehicle safety. Their 2026 models of the IONIQ 9 and Sportage have been honored with the coveted 2025 TOP SAFETY PICK + (TSP+) rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This recognition not only highlights the vehicles' robust safety features but also cements Hyundai Motor Group's position as a leader in the global automotive safety landscape.

Enhancing Safety Standards

Both the 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 9 and the 2026 Kia Sportage (manufactured after May 2025) earned TSP+ ratings, showcasing extraordinary performance in crash safety and accident prevention metrics. The IONIQ 9 received “Good” ratings across all evaluation categories set forth by IIHS, including crucial metrics such as front and side crash protection as well as forward collision prevention systems. The Kia Sportage saw significant improvements in its forward collision avoidance capabilities and headlight effectiveness, enabling it to upgrade from its 2024 TSP rating to the TSP+ honor for 2025.

Adding to this achievement, both models also secured top ratings from the Korea New Car Assessment Program (KNCAP), reinforcing Hyundai and Kia's commitment to safety in both domestic and international markets.
