Blockchain for Good Alliance Celebrates Innovative Projects Advancing UN Sustainable Development Goals

Blockchain for Good Alliance Celebrates Innovation at the 2025 Forum

The Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA), an influential non-profit organization founded by Bybit, has successfully concluded the Blockchain Impact Forum 2025 in Copenhagen, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)'s Alternative Finance Lab (AltFinLab). The event brought together over 300 policymakers, technology experts, and impact leaders from more than 30 countries to explore how blockchain technology can drive meaningful progress toward the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A Platform for Collaboration

Held on November 4 and 5, the Forum began with an exclusive leadership day titled "Chains of Change," focusing on governance, public digital infrastructure, and cross-sector partnerships. The second day featured the BGAwards, including the SDG Blockchain Accelerator Showcase organized by UNDP’s AltFinLab, which highlighted innovative blockchain projects addressing real-world challenges related to financial inclusion, sustainability, and digital trust. The BGAwards marked a significant milestone as the first major international convention fully dedicated to demonstrating how blockchain can have a global positive impact.

Key Themes and Speakers

The agenda of the Forum included interactive panels, keynote speeches, and project presentations centered around three main themes:
1. Blockchain for Digital Public Goods: Exploring governance, digital identity, and transparent data systems.
2. Finance for Inclusion and Impact: Analyzing the role of blockchain in democratizing access to capital and enhancing financial equity.
3. Sustainability and Climate Responsibility: Presenting use cases of blockchain in carbon emissions monitoring, supply chain traceability, and ESG reporting.

Prominent speakers included Helen Liu, co-CEO of Bybit and founder of the Blockchain for Good Alliance; Robert Pasicko, team leader at UNDP's AltFinLab; Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation; and David Ripley, CEO of Kraken, among others. Their contributions underscored the evolving role of blockchain in building trust-based systems, enhancing transparency, and bridging the gap between innovation and global development.

Helen Liu emphasized the BGA's mission, stating, "Blockchain technology has matured beyond imagination. At the Forum, we witnessed how builders, governments, and institutions are leveraging it to promote transparency, accountability, and tangible social impact."

Celebrating Excellence with BGAwards 2025

The Forum concluded with the BGAwards 2025, rewarding blockchain projects that significantly contribute to the UN’s SDGs and demonstrate the power of innovation for the public good. The winners of the SDG Blockchain Accelerator, who each received $2,000, were Genius Tags, Plastiks, and ZenGate. The BGA Incubation 2025 recognized projects in two stages: ideation and growth, with prizes ranging from $3,000 to $30,000.

Special recognition awards were also given for outstanding stewardship and commendations, reflecting the Alliance’s commitment to fostering blockchain solutions that promote measurable progress in sustainability, inclusion, and digital trust.

The Global Good of Blockchain

Throughout the two-day event, participants reiterated the need for collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure that blockchain innovation aligns with human development goals. The forum highlighted how blockchain can strengthen institutional trust, unlock new funding mechanisms, and create transparent systems that foster social and environmental progress.

Helen Liu remarked, "What we witnessed in Copenhagen is a growing movement where blockchain offers a shared infrastructure for trust and accountability. Our mission at BGA is to transform innovation into impact, ensuring that every block built contributes to a fairer and more sustainable future."

The Blockchain for Good Alliance continues to expand its ecosystem, accelerating responsible blockchain initiatives that uphold the promise of technology for a more inclusive and sustainable world.
