Huawei Unveils the Next Generation FAN Solution at MWC Barcelona 2026

Huawei Launches Next Generation FAN Solution at MWC Barcelona 2026

During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona, Spain, Huawei introduced its groundbreaking Next Generation FAN solution at the ISP Industry Forum. The theme of the forum, "AI Reshapes ISPs, Leading B2H and B2B Growth," set the stage for unveiling this innovative technology designed to enhance the operational capabilities of global Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in an increasingly intelligent world.

AI and Optical Technologies Revolutionizing ISPs

The Next Generation FAN solution integrates cutting-edge AI and all-optical technologies to redefine network capabilities for ISPs. York Yue, the Vice President of Huawei and CEO of ISP Media Business Unit, emphasized the pivotal role of AI in the ISP sector during his keynote address. He stated, "By 2025, AI will have transitioned from concept to widespread application, fundamentally altering the ISP landscape." This transformative shift is expected to drive operational automation and intelligence while opening up new avenues for high-value B2B services and monetization strategies.

Enhancing Smart Home Connectivity

As the world gravitates towards smart home solutions that rely on high-speed internet for applications like cloud gaming, 8K UHD video streaming, and video conferencing, the demand for more reliable, fast, and efficient broadband connections is surging. In response, Huawei’s Next Generation FAN solution focuses on boosting home connectivity using the OptiXstar EG series ONTs, which brings forth three intelligent features:
1. Intelligent Connectivity: This ensures automatic switching between frequency bands, delivering Wi-Fi 7 speeds exceeding 2,000 Mbps for seamless, whole-home coverage.
2. Intelligent Services: AI algorithms optimize Wi-Fi performance and enhance home security by accurately assessing indoor connectivity conditions.
3. Intelligent Operational Management (OM): The solution is engineered with self-diagnosis and self-optimization capabilities, enabling devices to autonomously pinpoint and rectify faults, thus enhancing overall network performance.

Additionally, the MA5800T series OLTs implement AI-driven traffic management, providing dedicated pathways for various smart services while ensuring robust performance across healthcare, entertainment, and remote meeting applications. This holistic approach guarantees improved user experiences and encourages ISP differentiation in a highly competitive market.

A Future Powered by AI

Huawei acknowledges the growing significance of AI within communication networks, heralding an era where intelligent technologies are indispensable for industry innovation. Huang Dachuan, CTO of Huawei's ICT Marketing and Solution Sales Department, crystallized this vision, asserting, "AI is reshaping the ISP industry and driving service growth across B2H and B2B domains." By 2030, he anticipates that AI terminals will be ubiquitous, leading to reduced costs and enhanced operational efficiencies.

In pursuing this futuristic landscape, Huawei has developed an ISP network architecture that fuses AI capabilities with essential components such as optical access and IP transport. Technologies like Data Center Optical Cross-Connect (DC-OXC) and Segment Routing over IPv6 (SRv6) facilitate advanced applications, which include smart healthcare, home automation, and intelligent operational management.

Having already collaborated with over 8,000 ISPs globally, Huawei’s commitment to advancing AI integration and fostering intelligent upgrades across home broadband and enterprise networks remains steadfast. The company fortifies its mission to bring AI solutions to every home and industry, sustaining ongoing digital transformation in anticipation of the intelligent era ahead.
