Experience Unique Oden with Seafood Bouillabaisse at Laforet Hakone Gora

Enjoy a Unique Culinary Experience at Laforet Hakone Gora

Laforet Hakone Gora, located in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, is introducing an exclusive winter lodging plan from December 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026. This special plan, named 'Seafood Bouillabaisse-style Oden Warmth Plan,' offers guests a unique spin on the local delicacy, Odawara Oden, reimagined by the hotel’s chefs.

Odawara Oden traditionally consists of various fish cakes and ingredients, simmered in a rich broth, and during the specified period, guests can indulge in a hotel-original version. The featured dish includes fish cakes from a renowned local maker, i.e., Iwashi-Tsumire and Satsuma Age, paired with seasonal seafood like lobster and king crab, all served in a delectable bouillabaisse broth made using the finest local Miso.

Culinary Delights

The plan includes fresh local ingredients, including:
  • - Appetizers: Sashimi (Tuna, Ikameshi), smoked salmon wrapped with duck pastrami & pickles, and a quiche made of snow crab and local bacon, accompanied by beet cream.
  • - Signature Oden Dish: Seafood Bouillabaisse-style Oden featuring lobster, king crab, seasonal fish, daikon, and various fish cakes.
  • - Accompanying Rice: Guests can enjoy rice that can be transformed into a creamy risotto at the end of the meal.
  • - Dessert: Hojicha (roasted green tea) pudding, a delightful way to finish the meal.

The dinner will be complemented by a warm local sake, 'Danzawa Sanreiho,' crafted from 100% Yamadanishiki rice, which has been carefully aged for over a year for a smooth texture and refined flavor that pairs beautifully with the umami-laden dishes. For non-alcoholic options, refreshing Shonan lemonade is available.

Relaxation and Ambience

After savoring the unique flavors of the bouillabaisse-style oden, guests can unwind in the soothing hot spring baths sourced from Owakudani, including a public bath and open-air baths. Alternatively, experience tranquility in rooms that come equipped with their own open-air hot springs, allowing for an intimate and relaxing stay.

As winter blankets Hakone Gora in snow, the hotel promises an experience like no other, blending warmth, comfort, and culinary artistry. The 'Seafood Bouillabaisse-style Oden Warmth Plan' invites you to gather around with friends and family and enjoy traditional Odawara flavors in a special way.

Chef Noriyuki Yokoyama of Laforet Hakone Gora states, “In the winter when the body cools down, we wanted to provide a dish that offers warmth from within, utilizing the local specialty of Odawara Oden. The bouillabaisse-style oden, incorporating the local Ichii miso, is a perfect fusion of Japanese and Western culinary traditions, making it a signature dish crafted uniquely for our guests.”
