On May 26, 2025, JPI (Japan Planning Institute) will host an informative seminar titled "Sustainable NRT2050" featuring Toshio Tashiro, Executive Officer in charge of Sustainability Promotion at Narita International Airport Corporation. The seminar will delve into the comprehensive decarbonization strategies and challenges faced by Narita Airport as part of its long-term vision.

The Path to Sustainable NRT2050

Narita Airport has announced its commitment to a decarbonized future under the "Sustainable NRT2050" initiative. This extensive program aims to significantly reduce CO2 emissions across various operations, including energy consumption in terminal buildings, aircraft operations, ground transportation, and accessibility methods. The ultimate goal is to establish a sustainable airport model that effectively integrates air and ground transportation while addressing the challenges of carbon footprint reduction.

The seminar will cover several critical topics relating to the decarbonization efforts:
1. Current Status of Narita Airport
- An overview of the present condition of Narita Airport and its operations.
2. Decarbonization Strategies and Challenges
- A deep dive into the specific strategies employed to achieve the airport's decarbonization goals:
- Decarbonization of Aircraft Operations
- Introduction of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
- A strategic plan for SAF implementation and the associated Scope 3 environmental value trading trials.

• - Individual Admission: ¥37,530 (tax included)
• - When two or more individuals from the same company or affiliated organization apply together, the cost is reduced to ¥32,530 per person.
• - For representatives from local government entities, two persons may register at a discounted rate of ¥11,000 each (limited to in-person attendance or live stream).
