SERES Participates in the ASEAN-China-GCC Economic Forum to Boost Development Opportunities

On May 27, 2025, the ASEAN-China-GCC Economic Forum officially commenced in Kuala Lumpur, aiming to create avenues for development and shared prosperity through the enhancement of cooperation in economy, trade, investment, and various other sectors. SERES, representing China's new energy vehicle (NEV) enterprises, was invited to participate in this impactful event.

During the forum, Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, engaged in discussions with John Zhang, Chairman and CEO of SERES Group. Zhang emphasized SERES's commitment to redefining luxury with the tagline ‘Intelligence Redefines Luxury’. The company focuses on capturing the high-end luxury vehicle market, particularly aimed at ASEAN and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations. SERES plans to expedite the development and certification of its relevant models, especially the high-end AITO series, for rapid introduction into target markets, aiming for comprehensive market coverage in the future.

SERES has a substantial history in vehicle exports, initiating its international trade operations back in 2005. Over the years, it has successfully shipped over 550,000 vehicles to more than 70 countries, including significant markets such as Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy. In a milestone achievement, SERES established an automated manufacturing plant in Indonesia in 2018, which integrates stamping, welding, painting, and assembly processes, marking it as Indonesia's first fully electric vehicle manufacturer. With this facility, SERES is not merely present in Indonesia, but is strategically enhancing its footprint throughout ASEAN, consistently bolstering its presence in the Southeast Asian automotive market.

By participating in the ASEAN-China-GCC Economic Forum, SERES seeks to further strengthen exchanges and collaboration with ASEAN and GCC member states, accelerating its international market expansion. In a detailed interview during the event, John Zhang elaborated on SERES's evolution since its inception in 1986. The company has transitioned through three significant phases: from manufacturing auto parts to complete vehicles, and now focusing on smart electric vehicles, achieving substantial growth at each juncture. The AITO brand, under SERES, is diligently working to redefine luxury through intelligent design, creating a ‘New Luxury’ concept that merges traditional opulence with technological advancement. This initiative has already garnered the recognition of over 600,000 users, positioning AITO as a benchmark for ‘New Luxury’ in China.

As a technology-driven enterprise, SERES remains dedicated to innovation in key electrification and intelligence technologies. The company has developed multiple pioneering solutions such as the SERES MF platform, Super Range Extender, Intelligent Safety systems, and the Super Factory, establishing a robust technological foundation for its operations. In the face of global economic integration's opportunities and challenges, SERES is committed to adopting a more open and inclusive mindset, collaborating with partners from various sectors to script a new chapter in the development of the NEV industry in China.

Founded in 1986, SERES is a leading technology company specializing in new energy vehicles (NEV), boasting an approximate workforce of 20,000 employees. The company is publicly listed in the A-share market and is part of the Fortune China 500 list. SERES is not only engaged in research and development but also the manufacturing, sales, and service of NEVs and their core components. The name ‘SERES’ draws inspiration from the Greek term meaning ‘land of silk,’ evocative of Eastern traditional luxury. The company markets two NEV brands internationally: AITO and DFSK. Each brand offers a diverse product range tailored to various market segments, with AITO focusing primarily on the high-end luxury segment. To date, SERES has made remarkable strides, exporting over 550,000 vehicles to numerous countries, including German, French, British, Italian, and more.
