2025 Nevada Youth Homelessness Summit: A Call to Action
On November 14, 2025, the Historic Fifth Street School in Downtown Las Vegas will host the ninth annual Nevada Youth Homelessness Summit, organized by the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY) in partnership with Las Vegas Sands. This significant event aims to bring together decision-makers, advocates, and affected individuals to address the alarming rise in youth homelessness across the state.
Rising Crisis
The statistics are sobering: from 2023 to 2024, youth homelessness in Clark County surged by 34%, while statewide numbers rose by 27%. With the state grappling with an unprecedented scarcity of affordable housing—only 17 suitable rental units available for every 100 extremely low-income households—the crisis requires urgent attention and collective action.
Arash Ghafoori, CEO of NPHY, emphasized the need for a robust response, stating, "Over the past year, Nevada has made significant strides in the fight to end youth homelessness that are worth celebrating. But we cannot overlook the new challenges and rapidly changing realities that put our young people at greater risk."
Summit Goals
The Summit aims to amplify youth voices and narratives, recognizing that their experiences are pivotal in shaping effective strategies. It represents a crucial platform to mobilize resources, advocate for solutions, and foster community engagement—a strong collective response is essential to combat the rising tide of youth homelessness.
In preparation for the 2026 roll-out of Nevada's first standalone plan to end youth homelessness, this year's Summit will unveil critical findings from the statewide Youth Experiencing Homelessness Study. This study provides a comprehensive assessment of the current challenges faced by at-risk youth and will serve as a vital resource moving forward.
Event Highlights
The one-day event will feature sessions with young adults who have faced homelessness, service providers, local government officials, and community leaders. Attendees can expect:
- - Updates on the progress of initiatives aimed at combating youth homelessness,
- - Presentations on intersecting issues affecting vulnerable young people,
- - Group discussions driven by youth insights and experiences.
Registration Information
Anyone wishing to participate can register starting August 11 at nphy.org/Summit25. Early bird registration is priced at $100 until September 19, after which it will increase to $175. Detailed schedules and speaker information will be available in September.
A Bright Future
The Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth's mission is to stabilize the lives of homeless teenagers across Southern Nevada and empower them to become self-sufficient adults. With over a decade of dedicated service, NPHY helps countless youth navigate their challenges and harness their potential.
As the state prepares to launch its standalone plan to end youth homelessness following the Summit, continuous advocacy, community support, and sustained engagement are necessary to forge a future where every young person has a safe place to call home.
By encouraging dialogue, fostering collaboration, and igniting local initiatives, the Nevada Youth Homelessness Summit embodies a proactive approach to ending an issue that deeply affects young lives within the community. Registration and participation are essential to ensuring that youth voices are heard and prioritized in shaping effective responses to this pressing crisis.
